I made the base unit for this kitchen project in Ripton, VT earlier this year. Butcher block installation and construction of upper cabinets to match, done by @the.loubear. Nice job, Lou!

Date with myself, to cap off a day of Caring for Self with Love and Intention, otherwise known as Umami All Day Plus Blueberries, otherwise known as Hot Damn August You Sure Do Bring It.

Food:
Cucumber-plum-feta-seaweed salt salad

Roasted cauliflower with parsley date gremolata (parsley, dates, lemon rind + juice, olive oil, salt, minced garlic, maple syrup), pan fried lamb bone trimmings from @rockyvalleyfarmvt rolled in @curiospice Bazaar baharat blend (sooo good), & marigold petals

Blueberry pie of course, berries from @woodfoxdesign

All veg, fruit, meat, cheese & flowers were VT grown, which makes my heart and tummy so happy. Even the bowl is VT made, by the one and only @mannyflaherty — they make everything taste better. Local schmocal doesn’t make me happy for any sort of VT STRONG vibes or whatever (what even are states, borders are a colonial construct) but rather because so much of this meal was tended by me or my friends and neighbors, and what a gift it is to be sustained by the place one lives in and the people one holds dear.

(Lest I overdo it, even the tablecloth is from a trade made at the Elmore store on a rainy March day, wherein I brought a big box of seeds for donation and a local woman gave me this cloth & a book in thanks).
