POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today I completed my first year of graduate school at Central Saint Martins. I don’t find pride in knowing I am the first of my mother’s children to make it this far. It’s honestly a shame how normal it is for many Black American families.

There was a time when almost nobody believed in anything I was building; including my own relatives. And that’s okay. I’ve always believed in myself. Ive spent most of my life by myself. So I’ve always believed that moving forward was the only way to make anything better. To think back that adulthood started 16. 😮‍💨 I’m #grateful I always made the best decisions out of courage and not fear. Although I’ve made more harmful decisions than I can count. I’ve also made more dreams come true than the younger version of me ever thought possible.

This year, my son graduated high school. Watching him reach that milestone reminded me how far we’ve both come. And with that I’m grateful for every person who loves him, supports him, and pours into his future. There was a period in my life when being a parent was the only reason I chose to stay alive. Thankful, my child is stepping into his next chapter while I’m building mine.

I’ve lost people along the way. Some left. Some never saw my value. Some only understood me when I was useful. Looking back, I see much of that loss as protection. My path has been lonely, but solitude taught me things attention never could. Alhamdlilah 🤲🏽 I don’t look like what I’ve lived through.

The shelters.
The bus stops beds.
The miles walked.
The weapons used against me.
The years were surviving was the only way forward.
The tears.
The screams nobody heard.
The doors that closed.
The laughter.
The lies told about me.
The people who said no.
The people who fought to make me quit.
The people who died.

I remember all of it.

And I remember something else. A home economics teacher once looked at a kid from nothing and told him he could have a bigger life.

My Nigga, you here.

Living our dream.

Not the finished version of it.

The Living version.

Year One complete.

Forward.

LOUD PALETTE la GALERIE exists because we believe real art takes time. Six months. A year. Sometimes two. It's about the stories that can't be rushed, the voices that deserve to be amplified, and the spaces where art and fashion meet with intention.

LOUD PALETTE la GALERIE was born from that belief. A digital gallery that celebrates those who create with depth, a platform for diverse voices, and a community that refuses to compromise artistry for trends.

This feature means the world to us, not just as recognition, but as a reminder of why we started. To honor the time it takes to create something extraordinary, to champion underrepresented artists through The Black Editorial, and to build a movement against disposability in art.

To every artist, collector, and creative soul who's been part of this journey, thank you for believing that the most powerful work isn't made quickly. It's made with purpose, patience, and uncompromising vision.

Propaganda I’m not falling for…

The only editorials that matter are in the design industry. Not. The. Case. At. All.

In fact, editorials like this one gives me chills when I read how very eloquently the storytelling is written and knowing the Editor In Chief took her time to learn so much about the creatives included.

Meet The Black Editorial!
My work is featured from the table of contents to the last page of this July issue, in print and digitally. THEE first print by the way. I am so proud of this for the magazine and the those involved with creating it. This is much bigger than me. However, my story could not have captured me, my ethos, and my thoughts better if I wrote it myself.

While this feature spread was shared about a week ago in a collaborative post, it deserves. To be seen, to be acknowledged, to be subscribed to and purchased. It deserves its flowers now before it hits shelves next to @essence and @housebeautiful at local stands in @barnesandnoble 🖤🖤🖤

Thank you again @loudpalette @mansaelana —
I’m still so very humbled and honored.
