Didn’t think I’d go back. So grateful I did.

2 weeks in the dust

Still trying to find the right words for this one.

My first year on playa opened my eyes to a world I didn’t know existed. Coming back for year two felt different. There was a familiarity this time, but also a much deeper appreciation for the people, the work, and the magic that happens when a group of humans decides to build something together.

Long Feng has become so much more than a place I come to cook. It’s become a community of incredibly talented, weird, creative, generous, and loving people who continue to inspire me in ways I never expected.

I’m grateful for every late night, every early morning, every meal shared, every problem we figured out, every random adventure, every dance, every laugh, and every moment where you look around and think, “How the hell did we actually make this happen?”

As a chef, I’ve always believed food is one of the easiest ways to bring people together. But playa reminded me that it goes far beyond the food. It’s the people standing beside you. The person helping carry something when you’re exhausted. The stranger who becomes a homie. The artist building until sunrise. The DJ keeping everyone moving. The volunteers quietly making everything work. The hugs, the conversations, the chaos, and the moments you could never have planned.

Thank you Audrey & Weixing for continuing to create a space where all of these people can come together and make something extraordinary.

And thank you to everyone who shared even a small piece of this experience with me. You made this second year something I’ll never forget.

I came home dusty, tired, inspired, and incredibly grateful.

Two years in the dust, and I already know I’m not done yet. 🐲🔥🔥🔥🐲

today is my 30th birthday ❤️‍🔥
we’re in tahoe now recouping after my 6th burn. what a rebirth. words don’t even describe the experiences that take place out there. i laughed, screamed, cried, sang, grieved, danced, smiled, tapped into my inner child and let my creativity run wild. i prayed. i spend a lot of my time on playa in prayer, praying over the earth and thanking god for this lifetime. i’m overjoyed seeing the wonderful things people are doing out there. the burn teaches you to grow and explore and be a better person. it’s a hypothesis for how we can exist better on planet earth. 🌍 and it’s beautiful ✨
i feel so inspired to come back to real life and weave in the lessons and information downloaded out here. thank you mother earth. thank you burning man for teaching humans how to human better. we get so caught up in our complex societal constructs we forget what life is about. we forget that we are stewards of this earth. the burn refocuses that. take care of earth. take care of others. love, sing, cry, be a shoulder to cry on. weep and hold space with your neighbors. help them. feed them. hold them. protect them. i really feel with these past two eclipses we have entered into a new dimension of radical positive change. we have shed a lot of energy of beings who no longer felt the need to be tethered to this dimension at this time. and those who are left are anchoring in the path of the future. we lost my dog heidi, and dolly, and countless others, but there are phoenixes rising from the ashes. it’s time for us all to step into our power and do what we came to do here on earth. we’ve been sent here to accomplish missions of healing ourselves and this planet. and entering into my 3rd decade of life, i’m ready to do the things i’ve been afraid of doing - that i know i came here to do. the time is now. be here now. ☯️ god gives you nothing but angels 😇 spread your wings 🪽 its time to fly. 🩵✨🙏🫂

17 years later I’m back at the BURN. The big test, the most radical human experiment and art installation on earth. The scale of effort and drive being exerted during build week is hard to describe. So many rad people doing rad shit in the harshest environment imaginable. I’m painting live all week at the corner of 10&K with @longfengartcar facing the vast desert playa to the west…and the sunsets have been surreal. Sunrises soon…check our set list 🤯 come say hi! 🤠🐦‍🔥🐉
