50 years of public art deserves a pretty big celebration. And a book to go with it! 📖

On October 29, we’re celebrating the launch of 50 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘈𝘳𝘵 & 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘺, a look back at the incredible artwork, people and ideas that have helped shape our community since 1976.

We’re bringing together artists, architects, designers and cultural leaders to talk about how far public art has come and where it could go next. And the best part? Every registered guest gets a complimentary copy of the book to take home!

My book Material is dedicated to teachers of literature and @juliemariewade was mine for many years.

No better way to bring my Material book tour to a close than by reading alongside her last week @madarts_space for an evening of Poetry Plus +.

We spoke about multimedia poetics, but also hybridity and collaboration between poets as expanded forms. Julie has pioneered both.

Come by this Saturday August 15 for a multimedia poetry plus + reading at the museum, where @juliemariewade and I will present our new books, guided by @yaddyrap from @omiamifestival.

ODE TO TOMATO 🍅 proud to announce that our emerging artist and FAU alum Astrid Marie @cyborgthief has designed an immersive dinner experience, in collaboration with @madarts_space storytellers and Chef Sam Diaz @samnation0824 - along with local artists and @bacapompanoarts alumni- Mark Espinosa @justmark.exe who animated these absurdly beautiful characters and the lush painter @livcooked who has created the ese phenomenal patterns and styles for this immerse dinner (plus masks)

A little behind-the-scenes magic from the installation day of Thin Walls. ✨
Honored to be part of What the Hands Remember, an immersive exhibition by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist Taimy Álvarez, @talvare, featuring six intimate documentaries—each accompanied by an artwork from one of the six participating women fiber artists.
Together, the exhibition explores memory, identity, and creative expression through film, fiber, photography, and mixed media.
It has been an honor to share this exhibition with these extraordinary artists:

Two years ago, I built SOLAR HIVE—an experiential solar artwork made of hundreds of solar lights integrated into hand-folded, laser-cut hexagonal modules.

Today, after a year of production, we’re bringing that vision to a permanent scale with HEXALUMINA, soon to join the Dallas Public Art Collection.

HEXALUMINA integrates Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) cells into hand-folded stainless steel hexagonal modules, creating an intelligent skin that harvests energy from the sun during the day and comes alive with light at night.

Nature has always been my inspiration. Like trees and leaves transforming sunlight into energy, I want to create autonomous sculptures that generate their own clean power—living architectural skins that are breathing beautifully and autonomosly.

This is more than the evolution of one artwork. It’s the beginning of a new generation of public art that breathes with the environment, powered by the sun.
