POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I didn’t plan on becoming a parent.

I planned on traveling the world in search of enlightenment.

What I wasn’t prepared for was that the awakening would happen through parenting.

Because parenting has a way of revealing parts of ourselves we didn’t know were still there.

The wounds we thought we had already healed.

The patterns we didn’t realize we were repeating.

The fears, beliefs, triggers, and survival strategies quietly shaping our reactions.

Parenting didn’t just introduce me to my children.

It introduced me to myself.

As I moved through that journey, I often found myself wondering:

How are other parents navigating this?

What happens when parenting brings someone face-to-face with pain they don’t understand?

What happens when exhaustion, guilt, shame, grief, or overwhelm begin to take over?

And what happens if they don’t have the tools, support, or language to make sense of what they’re experiencing?

Those questions stayed with me for years.

Eventually, they became this book.

📖 WHEN PARENTING HURTS

WHY YOU ARE NOT FAILING

Understanding Triggers, Breaking Patterns, and Finding Relief

Coming Soon.

What has parenting revealed about yourself that you never expected to discover?

Parents don’t need more shame.

They need awareness.
They need compassion.
And they need to see the truth for what it is.

That moment when you catch yourself thinking,
“Why did I do that?”
“I’m a bad parent.”
“I should know better.”

That moment is not proof that you failed.

It’s awareness.

And awareness gives you something powerful:

Choice.

Choice to pause.
Choice to soften.
Choice to respond differently.
Choice to step out of a pattern that no longer serves you.

You don’t become better by punishing yourself.

You become better by becoming conscious.

Presence interrupts patterns.
Presence creates space.
Presence gives you the power to choose again.

The truth is this:

You are not defined by your worst moment.

You are defined by your awareness
and your willingness to grow.

This carousel is designed for the exact moment you catch yourself turning against yourself.

Because you are not failing.

You are awakening.

This is exactly why I created Compassionate Reset for Parents.

A powerful tool to help you step out of self-criticism and return to presence, awareness, and choice.

PICK-UP-PUT-DOWN: GENTLE OR JUST EXHAUSTING? 💭

Pick-Up-Put-Down is often promoted as a “gentler” alternative to sleep training because it allows physical contact. But contact is not the same as connection. And repetition is not the same as regulation.

It teaches behavior.
But it does not teach nervous system safety, emotional attunement, or true sleep readiness.

📌 What it doesn’t consider:
— Is the parent emotionally or physically regulated?
— What is the meaning behind the cry, not just the sound?
— Is the baby in a stage of high attachment need (8–10mo, 18mo, 3yrs)?
— Does the baby have reflux, sensory sensitivity, trauma, or feeding challenges?
— Is constant lifting physically exhausting for a postpartum or recovering parent?

💔 You can pick up a baby…
and still leave them emotionally confused, overstimulated, or dysregulated.

Because comfort isn’t in the arms.
It’s in the attunement.

📖 Holistic sleep is not about replacing one technique with another.
It’s about understanding why a baby is waking: biologically, emotionally, neurologically, and relationally.

✨ Sleep doesn’t start with behavior.
Sleep starts with regulation, connection, safety, and readiness.

📢 Like, Save, Tag, Share, and spread this message with the parents, professionals, and educators who deserve clarity, not confusion. Because empowered parents make informed decisions, not pressured ones.

The fun and challenge with acting never stops, especially when you’re playing the role of someone who enjoys a candy bar you personally would not eat! 🤣Was asked to submit a self-tape using this commercial copy of a low calorie (discontinued) chocolate bar. Would you have bought it? 😉

Special thanks to @officialginanemo my fabulous acting mentor and teacher of @venturaactorsstudio and to @aman.segal who taught an incredibly valuable acting master class, auditioning for commercials.

I highly recommend acting for everyone. It helps every aspect of your personal and professional growth. It consistently pulls you out of your comfort zone, connects you with every emotion, helps you face your fears, builds courage and supports an understanding of life and people from all different perspectives.

Mothers, especially single mothers need support for several reasons, as they play a crucial role in the well-being of their children and the overall functioning of families and communities. Here’s why:

1. Physical and emotional well-being: Motherhood can be physically and emotionally demanding. Support from partners, family, friends, and communities can help mothers cope with the challenges they face, such as sleep deprivation, fatigue, and hormonal changes.

2. Transition to motherhood: Support networks can provide guidance, advice, and reassurance to navigate this new role, especially for first-time mothers. Peer support groups, parenting classes, and professional assistance can help mothers gain confidence and knowledge about childcare.

3. Balancing responsibilities: Mothers often juggle multiple responsibilities, including childcare, household chores, work, and personal needs. Adequate support can help alleviate the burden by sharing responsibilities or providing assistance. This allows mothers to have time for self-care, rest, and pursuing their own interests, contributing to their overall happiness and mental well-being.

4. Emotional connection and validation: Supportive relationships help mothers feel connected and validated. Sharing experiences, concerns, and joys with others who understand their challenges fosters a sense of belonging and reduces feelings of isolation.

5. Parenting challenges: Raising children comes with various challenges. Supportive networks can provide guidance, advice, and resources to help mothers address these challenges effectively.

6. Social support and community: Mothers benefit from being part of a supportive community where they can form friendships, exchange knowledge, and seek help when needed. Social support networks can provide practical assistance, such as babysitting or meal sharing.

7. Promoting child development:
When mothers have the necessary support, they can focus on building a strong parent-child bond, promoting the child’s cognitive, emotional, and social growth.

It’s important to recognize the value of supporting mothers and to provide them with the resources, understanding, and empathy they need. ❤️

“If a sleep consultant makes assumptions or throws out solutions prior to performing a full thorough investigation,

If they resort to cookie cutter methods and not a customized plan of action,

If they are not aware of the root cause(s) that are influencing their clients’ sleep challenge,

If they use their authority to influence their clients choices versus motivational interviewing,

If they are not addressing the physical and mental well-being and self esteem of their clients, then 👇🏽

They are not holistic and not providing you the most optimal, effective and empowering service.

The Holistic Science of Sleep Method (HSS), developed by Mar De Carlo provides the framework and understanding that supports adults, pregnant women, parents and professionals in learning, addressing and resolving the many factors creating a sleep challenge.

A HSS practitioner understands and honors that our children’s bodies do not need to technically be “trained” to sleep. By nature’s design, human bodies are already developmentally programmed to sleep and will do so if we support the process.

A HSS practitioner empowers each of their clients to understand the function and mechanics of sleep and how it relates to health and lifestyle.

An HSS practitioner uses motivational interviewing to help their clients discover limiting habits, patterns and choices, while developing a keen sense of awareness and strong relationship with their body.
.
A HSS practitioner asks powerful questions, addressing and analyzing internal and external forces individually, hitting upon the major (and often overlooked) factors early on in the process. This includes collecting and evaluating their client’s health, emotional well-being and lifestyle history.

A HSS practitioner may need to refer their clients to the right medical/therapy practitioners who can rule out and diagnose imbalances.

Most importantly, a Holistic Science of Sleep Method practitioner follows a team-based approach, customizing solutions while guiding their clients to a lifestyle driven by their clients’ own motivation that supports optimal sleep for themselves and their whole family.” ~ Mar De Carlo

Yes, child sleep is a developmental process that requires time 🙌🏽

“Sleep is a developmental process. Sleep patterns change as babies and children get older and sleep needs change throughout our lifetime.

When our child begins to show signs of development toward walking or talking, we accept it is a process that takes time to mature. When we see initial signs of our child beginning to walk, we do not implement a training system to get them walking in a few days. Rather, we follow and support its natural process. 👶

Yet, we have become accustomed to rushing our child’s sleep developmental process on our timing. Yes, our child is capable of sleeping independently. Yes, our child has the capability of being resilient, adaptable and strong but on nature’s timing and their own timing.🐛🦋
