In a little over a week I will celebrate the entry into the last year of my 30’s. And this spring marked 5 years in my home. A home that I bought during the pandemic.

The day I got my keys I celebrated on the floor of my house alone WITH covid and champagne but WITHOUT furniture. (I had moved houses 19 times in 15 years, so I didn’t accumulate much. See third photo)

And one year ago, in this home, I brought Mr. Baby Leo home. The tiny 10 week old pup was dropped off in a strange place, then slept on my chest for an hour (4th photo). Just him and me in my oversized corner circle chair. He was home now too.

Movement and community feel different to me these days. I still want lots of both. Just in a smaller radius. Like getting back to the way humans existed, only knowing 50 people total in tiny villages for their whole lives. I want that kind of energy.

Creating a home has been uncomfortable, exhausting, and a total money pit. But somewhere along the way, the settling. The slower pace of life. The stillness. Curling up every morning in my oversized corner circle chair during my 2 hour lazy morning routine. Leo still sleeping on me.

So... folks... in this current world of constant information, I want to try to know less about shit that doesn’t matter. Narrowing my world. Knowing fewer things more deeply. Trusting my own intuition a little more than whatever the internet wants me to care about today.

Thanks for reading my journal entry as I move into the last year of my thirties and apparently the year of the bee (first photo). Here are some memories that I’ll remember for a very long time.
