*If you don’t believe in yourself you won’t succeed I cannot believe the day has finally come! Me and kev walked into cosmology school together and now we are walking out together. It’s been a wild ride while being here but with all these amazing people by my side they made us possible and more memorable. I’m so thankful for this school for growing my knowledge in becoming the best version of a hairstylist I can be one day, I’m also grateful for my amazing teachers like miss. Amanda and so on; I’m so happy for walking out here with some of the most beautiful souls as friends. Thank you to everyone who supported me especially my family and dear friends, and thank you to my God my Lord and Savior for showing me what he had in store for my life when it came to careers.

1500 hours later…

If you had told me last August, before I enrolled in cosmetology school, that I’d be standing here today, I would’ve called you crazy. This journey has been anything but easy, but every challenge has been worth it. From early mornings, 28 hours a week (unpaid), to late-night makeup sessions, I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.

Growing up wasn’t easy for me. Throughout elementary to high school, I never truly felt like myself. Being closeted, I held back a lot. I missed out on big moments—homecoming dates, promposals, even extracurricular activities—out of fear of judgment and disappointing those around me. This is why this journey has felt so incredibly special, almost like a second shot at life.

If you asked me whether I liked cosmetology school, I’d say yes. But on a deeper level, I absolutely love it. I can’t imagine where I’d be without it. Before starting this program,I never really thrived in an academic environment. But here, I proved to myself that I could do things I never thought possible. I made it into phase two, became influencer of the month, won repost of the week multiple times, and was top in sales and services a few times. The people I’ve met—mentors, friends—they have truly saved my life. They’ve accepted me for who I am, my authentic self, and for that, I am forever grateful. I felt incredibly lost in the world but they helped me feel like I belong.
