There are books I love because of the stories they tell, and then there are books that hold a little piece of our own story. This Is a Pipe is one of those for me.

Published in 2018, this beautiful book celebrates the evolution of the glass pipe and the incredible artists who have helped shape this community. Our copy is from the first printing of just 2,000, and having it on my shelves means so much more to me than simply owning another beautiful book.

I have to give the biggest shoutout to @windhome. I am always so incredibly proud of you, the work you do, and the way you have spent so many years documenting the artistry of this community. Your dedication, your eye for detail, and the care you put into every photograph never cease to amaze me. Knowing that your photography is part of this book makes it especially meaningful to me.

Wind’s photographs featured in these pages include:

@carlsonjones — UV Weave Crate Set (2017)

@clinton_roman — Phoenix (2000)

@delleneperalta — Dichro High Heel

@hammswaterworks — Encalmo Windowpane Set (2017) and Lavender Hurricane (2017)

And a very special shoutout to our dear friend and colleague @jlzill , Jamie! I have so much love and respect for this incredibly talented woman and the beautiful work she creates. Her photography is featured throughout the book, including the stunning opening two-page spread of the 2016 Skull Hookah collaboration by @scott_deppe_official @mrgrayglass @darbyholmglass @jdmaplesden , and @bendavid What an incredible piece of art and such a beautiful way to open this book! Jamie, I am so proud of you and grateful to know you, both personally and professionally.

So much talent, history, creativity, and friendship tucked between these covers. I love that these works of art and the people who helped document them have a permanent place in print.

A huge thank you to Brad Melshenker, Nicholas Fahey, Barry Bard, and everyone who helped bring this beautiful book to life. What a wonderful piece of glass history to have in my library, and what a privilege to know so many of the people who helped make that history.

"Neon Noir" @theparkinglot.collective @parlayphl

I feel incredibly fortunate to have shared such a special time with so many friends, as well as with so many people I had the chance to meet for the first time.
Thanks to the support of so many people, our show“Neon Noir,”became something truly special.
I would like to once again express my sincere gratitude to everyone who was a part of it.

I first met @marble.slinger in 2008 at a glass event in Tokyo called B.A.E.
At that time, I had not yet started working under the name @slopglass .
Meeting Slinger and Snic at that event had a huge impact on me, and their work and approach inspired me to begin making glass pipes seriously.
I truly believe that without meeting them, I would not be where I am today.
After all these years, being able to spend time together again and take part in a show together feels incredibly meaningful to me.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to my mentors, Slinger and Snic, for the influence and inspiration they have given me over the years.

I am also extremely grateful to @pyroscopic for all of the work and dedication he put into making this show happen.
His passion and effort helped make Neon Noir an even more special experience.

And to @takaomiyake , who traveled from Japan and joined me for this show.
This was my first trip back to the United States in seven years, and I had some anxiety about making the journey.
Thanks to his support, I was able to complete the entire trip safely and return home to Japan.
Thank you so much.

Since developing panic disorder seven years ago, traveling to the United States had become something very difficult for me.
But after completing this trip, supported by so many wonderful people along the way, I feel that I have gained a great deal of confidence.
I’m already looking forward to the next time I can see everyone again in the United States.

To everyone who was part of this trip and "Neon Noir", thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I am truly grateful.
Thank you so much🙏🏼
