ANNUAL IKOKORE DAY CEREMONY
(Theme: Taste of Tradition 2.0)

The Federation of Ijebu and Remo Students' Association (FIRSA), Obafemi Awolowo University, under the leadership of BALOGUN Samson J. (Marcelo), proudly hosted the Annual Ikokore Day Ceremony, on Saturday 18th July 2026. A memorable celebration of the rich heritage, unity, and excellence of the Ijebu and Remo people.

The event featured a keynote address by Prof. C. A. Adebajo (Professor of Pharmacognosy & Fmr. Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, OAU), alongside inspiring presentations by Aka Daniel E. (Senator), and Rt. Hon. Awe Ademola E., who were both honoured. Our Grand Patron, Prof. O. A. Koya, and Grand Matron, Prof. K. A. Taiwo, were also recognised for their invaluable mentorship and unwavering support for FIRSA, along with Mrs B. O. Asubiojo, Fmr. University Librarian of OAU & Current University Librarian of FUHSI.

Guests enjoyed an exciting blend of culture and entertainment, including Ewi & Oríkì by Giwa Asia, Ijebu dialect storytelling by Global, and a musical performance by Boy Ander. The celebration also featured the Taste of Ikokore, Eba with Egusi, and Ebiripo, alongside the Food Competition, Best Dressed Competition, and the highly competitive Quiz Competition.

The quiz prizes of ₦50,000 were sponsored by Olatunbosun Olalekan (Catalyst), represented by his brother, Oluwasemilore Olalekan (Ikigai), Angola Sport Secretary & Computing Science PRO. We also honoured Comr. Oluwafemi Ajayi (Ef'em Castro), NAOSS Nat'l President, while he also represented Prince Temitope Kasali (Kastopee). We appreciate Ayodele Babatunde (ABO) for sponsoring free CNG tickets, and Hon. Olajumoke Ogunbanwo, CEO of DE OLAJUMOKE HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION for sponsoring the event souvenirs.

This landmark event was made possible through the dedication of the Executive Council (Team DE NOVO), Planning Committee (led by Keshinro Emmanuel), alumni, sponsors, partners, collaborators, volunteers, and every member and friends of FIRSA.

Thanks to everyone who believed in our vision and contributed to the success of Ikokore Day 2026. Together, we celebrated our heritage, honoured excellence, and strengthened the legacy of FIRSA.

Good things should never stay private.

Some resources deserve to travel from one person’s shelf to an entire community.

100 Emotions is now available at the Faculty of Pharmacy Library for every PANSite; because access to the right words, ideas, and perspectives should never be limited.

If you need access, kindly reach out through the Librarian at the E-Library.

One more reason to stop saying, “there’s nothing in the library"

BALOGUN Samson J. [Marcelo],
PANS Librarian.

Thank you PANS Librarian!!

Back in early May, FECAMDS OAU came together to celebrate a week filled with faith, learning, service, and fellowship. 💫

The week’s activities included an enlightening webinar, uplifting sessions of fellowship and retreat, a relaxing movie night, a meaningful school health outreach, a refreshing picnic, and a graceful thanksgiving Mass.⚡

It was truly a time to grow in knowledge, deepen our bond as a family, and reaffirm our commitment to service. ✨

We remain grateful to God for the success of the program. And, to the Organizing team chaired by BALOGUN Samson @marcelo_sb12 , the Executive body headed by ADEBAJO Oluwadamilola @ao_ayomi , the Alumni body and to everyone who contributed to making it a memorable experience.🙏🏾
