SPTA Shoutout!✨

It might be break but the grind never stops 🫡

Dr. Hodges, Marcelo, and Becca participated in an event through medigators and the women of medicine group over at the medical school! They ran a PT station for middle and high school girls interested in healthcare where they got to learn about the field of PT and compete against each other in a plank (Dr. Hodges), balance (Becca), and hand grip strength (Marcelo) competition!!

Year 3 of @prsportsperformancesummit 🇵🇷🧠🔥✅ . Huge thank you to @baseline.pt and @getsocialpuertorico for elevating the level every year. Grateful for all the speakers and knowledge shared. An honor to have great people around me and not be the smartest person in the room. Always willing to give back to my country and inspire the next generation🤞🏻

Main takeaways:
1. Collaboratiion and communication are 🔑 for a sports medicine staff to contribute to team success🔥

2. Data collection requires context and purpose to have true meaning.

3. Concussions could have a long-term effect on lower body injury risk and rehabilitation🧠

4. Dual-tasking can be implemented early in rehab to benefit CNS recovery.
- Main criteria: Master the basics first before overloading the system with dual-tasks.

5. Pre-season assessments are necessary for baseline results to be monitored throughout the season.
- Can be used as reference post-injry to return to or above baseline = RETURN TO PERFORMANCE⚾️🏀🔥

SPTA Shoutout!✨

Last night, our SPTA spoke at a health panel for the HEAL undergrad club @ufheal!! The purpose of this event was to inform undergraduate pre-health students about different healthcare fields. For those interested in physical therapy, students came to a breakout session and asked questions to our SPTA!
