Street food at its dreamiest, creamiest best can be found at this ultra-Instagrammable, retro, roadside stand @esquitesdurango. Huge elotes on sticks come slathered in spicy and creamy toppings, or think steaming hot corn esquites topped with mayonnaise, melted cheese, beans and corn chips, piled high in precarious paper cups. It ain’t pretty, but by God it’s good. 🌽

My favorite muertos tradition is the honor of accompanying Isabel and Edgardo to adorn the graves of their lost loved ones. We sent their spirits away - after their annual visit to join the living - with offerings of flowers and light, food and drinks, and other earthly nourishment to aid in their journey back to the beyond. So grateful to participate in this ritual that allows for a communal expression of joy, sorrow, loss and love ~ to create and share a space to honor ALL that is the human experience. 💓

Marcia and I met while I was living in Oaxaca towards the end of 2020. She’s from the UK, lives partly in Spain, but mainly in Mexico. This is her second time being in SoCal. Beaches, deserts and gas stations babyyyy. Can’t wait for more.🌵❤️
