“Pivot earlier.”

That’s the advice Nick from Marco would give his past self.

@marcoexperiences is a group travel / corporate offsite platform started during the pandemic and scaled quickly, but as the world changed, so did the market. The team had to slow down, listen to customers, and rethink what they were building.

That eventually became Marco 2.0.

Pivoting usually isn’t one big aha moment. Sometimes it’s a series of signals, conversations, and hard decisions that push you in a better direction.

AI Hackathons are powerful catalysts for AI literacy, cross-functional collaboration, experimentation, and real business impact. A well-run hackathon is one of the few moments where HR can shape how AI shows up in the company.

Earlier this year, Veronica Wong, Head of People Operations at Kindred, spearheaded their last AI Hackathon and treated it as a change-management exercise, not just an innovation event.

Veronica is part of a panel of four sharing the framework for planning one at your own company.

This Thursday, we'll walk through the four ingredients that make a Hackathon actually stick, with people who've done this work:

🎙️ Veronica Wong, Head of People Operations, Kindred (ran Kindred's Hack(AI)thon)
🎙️ Jason Lavender, Co-founder & CEO, Electives (helps companies adopt AI through live learning)
🎙️ Enrique Rubio, Founder & CEO, Hacking HR (leads one of the largest people leader communities)
🎙️ Moderated by Suman Siva, Co-founder, Marco Experiences

And one day, you realize…
It was never about the big things.

It’s about an afternoon spent with a team of developers and engineers who didn’t see themselves as creative—
and yet, in just one hour, made something beautiful.

It’s about the curiosity in their questions,
the laughter as they tried to “optimize” the paint,
the quiet joy of seeing color move and flow.

It’s about the way art opens people up—
the connection, the stillness,
the reminder that creativity lives in everyone.

It was never about the big things.
It’s about the moments we create together.

The connections and the conversations are what it’s all about. @marcoexperiences
