Happy Monday Miami! Here’s our curated list of events for Monday, March 9 through Wednesday, March 11.

Now let’s talk about another Miami developer doing exactly what you think Miami developers do.

Rishi Kapoor, former CEO of Location Ventures, just got slapped with federal charges for allegedly running an $85 million fraud scheme. Investors gave him money to build luxury condos across South Florida. He built absolutely nothing. Zero. The man collected checks like rent was due on his integrity.

So where did $85 million go? A 68-foot yacht named M/Y SUNEETA II. Monthly payments: $31,000. He had a smaller yacht before that one but apparently 55 feet wasn’t cutting it anymore. Had to upgrade. A $5.9 million house in Cocoplum. A Rolex Daytona. A 2.5-carat platinum ring. This man was accessorizing with other people’s retirement funds.

When an investor asked to see financial documents, prosecutors say he literally told an associate to inflate the numbers before sending them. Over email. Written evidence. Bro thought “delete” was a legal defense.

He also allegedly withheld payroll taxes from his own employees and just kept the money. Took from the people working for him while shopping for watches that cost more than their annual salary. Straight up cartoon villain behavior. He probably twirled a mustache while signing those checks.

Wire fraud. Money laundering. Bank fraud. Tax evasion. He’s looking at up to 30 years. The feds seized the yacht. The ring is now evidence. The Rolex is going to be sitting in an evidence locker somewhere instead of on his wrist at LIV.

Another day in Miami. Another developer treating investor money like a personal ATM. Meanwhile the rest of us are out here paying $2,800 for a one bedroom with no parking and a landlord who takes three weeks to fix the AC and a year to fix a leaking wall (too specific? Oh well… shout out to William at Pineway Inc. It wouldnt hurt if it wasn’t true!)

Drop a 🟦 and we’ll DM you our event submission form. Submit 72 hours before your event for consideration.

We love you Miami.🧡

Happy Monday, Miami! Six people just won the Fantasy 5 lottery, and half of them are from Miami-Dade. The best part? None of them used Quick Pick, meaning either psychics are real or Miami’s most basic number combination just hit. The winners are splitting $53K, which locally amounts to first, last, and security deposit for a studio apartment.

Three winning tickets came from a Kendall Fresco y Mas, a North Miami Winn-Dixie, and a Murphy USA, proving the American Dream is alive and well at your local grocery store. The other winners were from Jacksonville, Pensacola, and somewhere called Thonotosassa (yes, that’s a real place). Each winner gets $8,843.21, which in this economy is just enough to make your friends expect you to pick up the dinner tab.

Here’s your roundup of Monday events that are free or under $10 for everyone who didn’t win. Got something to share? Drop a 🟦 in the comments, and we’ll DM you a link to our submission form. Remember to submit at least 48 hours in advance to ensure its inclusion in our daily roundup!

We love you, Miami – even when your lottery winnings can’t compete with inflation! ❤️
