As my buddy Marco says “Let’s speed up the revolutions on our turntables and spin some cool Records!!😉”. It’s Forty Five Friday and It’s Day Twenty Three of my “31 Days of Halloween 45’s” challenge and I’ve got a real tale of horror for you from the band The Graveyard Five. Legend has it that “”The Marble Orchard”, was written by lead guitarist Louis Shriner and bassist Steve Kuppinger during a wet October night spent inside Lakeport’s Hartley Cemetery. After being terrified by unexplainable movements behind tombstones and hearing a howling pack of wolves, they penned the song, which opens with the rhythmic thump of a panicked heartbeat. Lore has it that the recording studio itself was haunted, leaving a distinct, ghostly growl audible near the end of the track”

One of the best things about being a music collector in the days before the internet was at our fingertips was how you could discover something you never knew existed just while flicking through the racks at your local record store.

I had always thought Introduce Yourself was Faith No More's debut album before stumbling across a copy of We Care A Lot. We just didn't know!

Which brings me to Sliver. I had never heard of it. Knew nothing about it. And, yet, there it was, under "N", looking back up at me from the rack.

It was definitely Nirvana, you could tell from the photo on the back cover, but it wasn't on Bleach or Nevermind (I only found it in 1991 - I doubt there would even have been that one copy in stock in a record shop in Ireland if Nevermind hadn't been making some waves).

The holy grail, a non-album single release that no one I knew had ever heard of. I would be king!

Obviously, I bought it and immediately went about showing off to all my friends.

Fun fact - Dan Peters of Mudhoney actually drummed on this, as it was recorded post-Chad but pre-Dave.

Chris Marshon recorded these Elvis tributes shortly after Elvis’ death. Can’t find much of anything about the artist or the song on the Interwebs…. Hey Melody, drop us some wax wisdom here if you know anything about this artist or songs.

It’s Day Sixteen of Nicky No-Good’s “Treat Bag” Halloween Vinyl Challenge, plus day sixteen of my 31 Days Of Halloween 45’s, plus a Forty Five Friday and an Elvis Friday. First off, Tootsie Rolls are the treat - yes I love those black candies, just like I love my Black Leather Jacket. Secondly, the B side of this 45 features a cover of that Elvis song “Jailhouse Rock” and Elvis’ best look was wrapped in a Black Leather Jacket IMHO.

Depending on what part of the world you live in, Vs either has just had or is just about to have its 33rd birthday so, for this week's #fortyfivefriday with @marcotossa, here is the 12" posterbag version of Daughter, the second single from @pearljam's second album.

The poster spent years on my wall before I got too old to have posters on my wall, so it is just back to being a record sleeve again. Another hazard of aging, I guess.
