Our Director @cmicahtaylor talks about the intentionality of using specific focal lengths and cuts (or lack thereof) to help tell a succinct story. In our latest short film, we often used longer, wider shots to make the shorter close-ups feel even more intimate.

He also talks about the camera system we used to make this film happen, and we give you a little behind-the-scenes look at how our camera team operated the DJI Ronin 4D on set.

In the spring of 2023, our crew landed in Honduras with @bridgecitycoffee and @prophiphop, beginning what would be the three-year journey of telling the story of coffee. But not “here’s the process from farm to cup.” That’s been done. A lot. And well. We’re not about retreading.

We wanted to highlight a different way of doing things, the individual souls involved in the process, and the communities dependent on, impacted through, or served by… coffee.

From Santa Elena Honduras, to Los Angeles, to Colorado, to Chicago, to Sacramento… along the way we got to see community formed around the determination to take the path of most resistance to pursue the greatest good for the most people.

So we did get to see the coffee go from the farmers to the drinker… but more than that, we saw every hand the touched it along the way. And in the process, we saw people trying to imagine a better future and—in their own towns, neighborhoods, communities—build a more livable world.

We saw people terraforming.

Ultimately, this documentary only scratches the surface. But we still hope that it gives you a taste of the full narrative, so that if you do have the opportunity to experience this coffee, you have a little better of an understanding of who it took to get to you.

There’s just something deeply rewarding about working with creatives that inspire you. This project for @gspairport felt like–in some ways–“getting the band back together,” bringing in some @electrcsoul OGs and long-time collaborators who have worked with us since the beginning. It had been a minute since we’d all been on set together, but this felt like just the right project.

And I think it shows through on screen. There’s a fun seamlessness to these videos. Part of that comes from the good creative provided by the client, the other part comes from a crew that works, collaborates, and creates together.

One grizzled veteran of battle, one eager recruit, and one message to deliver. From a simple vision of a new fantasy world to a full-fledged movie set, we are ecstatic to say we have wrapped filming for our upcoming project with @Mythasci!
