You may have noticed at the end of Bill’s latest special, “Drop Dead Years”, a dedication to Marcus Giesen. Marcus took pictures of all of us on a beautiful day in Seattle, just one day after shooting that special. Bill rented a boat for the day and took everyone out on the Spokane River to unwind, have a drink and listen to Yacht Rock.
Marcus drove us around and captured that day but he also worked for All Things Comedy in many capacities. He took still photos on the Soda set and was this amazing light of positive energy. I only knew Marcus for one day but it was the most perfect day where we all laughed and celebrated and sailed around Seattle. Thank you for the photos Marcus. We’re all so lucky to have known you 🕊️📸

Marcus Giesen’s Celebration of Life in Los Angeles will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 12:30 pm in The Comedy Store’s Main Room.

If you cannot make it to lunch at 12:30, please join us for the ceremony at 2 pm, followed by mingling until our event ends at 4 pm.

Hello friends and family – As most of you know my world has been turned upside down as I face a future without my best friend and soulmate. There are no words that truly convey the magnitude of my loss. My family and I are grateful for the outpouring of love and support as we navigate this journey.

We will honor and celebrate Marcus through a Celebration of Life service in both CA and MN. The Los Angeles event will be held on Saturday, September 28th in the early afternoon. Location and specific time will be posted later this week.

The Minnesota event will be held on Saturday, October 26th at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan in the late morning/early afternoon – the specific time will be posted at a later date.

Marcus was just at the very beginning of what I’m sure would have been a long and illustrious career. He was smart, always jumped in to help others, and loved to make people laugh on set. He was funny. He was an incredible person. Anyone who crossed his path instinctively knew this. He was my friend and I feel so lucky to have known him.

I’m devastated for his wife, Ally, and his family. I’m devastated for anyone who knew him, and those who didn’t because they missed out.

When Laura and I first worked with him, he jumped in and helped every department. Total baddie. I knew he was a special dude and had the right temperament for this business and he loved it. He was very passionate about his art and loved comedy. It’s so unfair to have someone so young leave us, knowing there was so much promise for his future. He was unforgettable.

Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed forever.
