@marek_makes_art im sorry but Spotify made me put a bra on your little man

I dont like them much.

It was actually the distributor but we all know who their master is.

Everyone's all impressed by people who make up songs and record and perform them but thats the easiest part. Try dealing either Spotify or a distributor who doesn't give s sh!t.

I know this seems trivial and it is but the artwork for my next single was rejected too and this one makes e incredibly sad. I'll explain why after its released and you think to yourself 'what a strange cover image'

Not sure why the last photo was in my phone but it looks cool.

My collaborations with @marek_makes_art are many at this stage and they include my latest tune 'words, in a way that you might not expect.

There will be a music video for this tune and let me tell you, it will be thought provoking...

When will it be out? You'll have to ask Marek that
It's his baby.

For now... have an ear gawk at a clip of the tune and an eye gawk (just a gawk i guess) at Marek's art.

It's been a long long time... but the day has arrived.

Stream the tune in all the usual places. Id love to know what you think of it.

Relieved and excited to have the first track from my new EP ut in the world ❤️

I miss collaborating with other musicians, but its tough making niche music in a small town in rural Ireland, not many other musicians around who wanna make strange and wonderful sounds. But, there is a wonderful community of artists, photographers, dancers etc around here.

There's a lot more to come, with a bunch of new songs on the way which include collabs with new people and old friends, even one in the actual music 😲

My fave will always be the last slide though. My little girls portrait of daddy remains front and centre!!!
I think i got a good deal

Yesterday reminded me why I believe exhibition openings matter so much.

Of course, we come to see the ART — and @marek_makes_art gave us plenty to stop in front of, question, examine and think about. His sculptures in wire, concrete and other materials have an extraordinary physical presence, while his ink work approaches the human condition from an entirely different direction.

But an opening gives us something more.

It gives the work a VOICE.

Hearing Marek speak about his practice, his materials and the ideas behind individual pieces changed the way I looked at them. Suddenly you are not only seeing the finished object — you are beginning to understand something of the thinking, experimentation and searching that brought it into existence.

And @mariamayart gave the afternoon such a beautiful beginning with a wonderfully heartfelt opening address and introduction to Marek. There was warmth in the room from the very start — helped enormously by the beautiful presentation and lighting of the exhibition.

Then came what I perhaps love most about openings:

CONVERSATION.
CONNECTION.
PEOPLE.

It was lovely to see familiar faces again, including people I had previously met through exhibitions at @newartgallery_boyle , and equally lovely to meet new ones. Art brings together people who might otherwise never have found themselves in the same room — and sometimes one conversation alters how we see a work, an artist, or even our own practice.

That is something a screen can never completely reproduce.

Thank you, Marek, for a fascinating exhibition and a genuinely wonderful afternoon — and congratulations.

If you are anywhere near Ballaghaderreen over the next few days, I strongly recommend seeing the work in person.

Marek will be there throughout the exhibition, giving visitors the rather special opportunity to meet the artist, talk with him and hear directly about the work.

THIS IS WHY EXHIBITION OPENINGS MATTER.

It was at a recent group exhibition at @newartgallery_boyle that I first met @marek_makes_art and had the opportunity to spend time with both him and his work.

That is one of the great pleasures of attending exhibitions in person.

You don’t simply encounter paintings, sculpture or installations — you meet the people behind them. Conversations begin. Ideas are exchanged. You discover artists whose work speaks to you, and sometimes those first meetings develop into genuine friendships and creative connections.

So I am especially looking forward to seeing Marek again today, this time for the opening of his SOLO EXHIBITION in Ballaghaderreen.

Marek Petrovič — SCULPTURES & INK
25–29 August
Opening: Tuesday 25 August, 3pm
Dillon House, Market Square, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon

And particularly lovely: Marek himself will be there throughout the exhibition, giving visitors the opportunity not only to experience his work, but to meet the artist behind it.

If you are anywhere nearby, come along, support a fellow artist and experience the work in person.

Because no screen can ever quite replace standing in front of the real thing — or meeting the artist who created it.

What a wonderful afternoon in Boyle.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the opening of ECHOES OF IMMERSION at the New Art Gallery Boyle — and it reminded me once again why openings matter.

Of course, we go to see the art. But an exhibition opening is also about meeting the people behind the work, talking, exchanging ideas, discovering different approaches and seeing how individual works begin to speak to one another once they share the same room.

There was such a warm atmosphere today, with so many fascinating artists, visitors and conversations — and the exhibition itself was beautifully presented.

ECHOES OF IMMERSION was created in response to an immersive art workshop at Willowbrook Park and forms part of Heritage Week 2026. It brings together work inspired by place, observation and immersion in the surrounding landscape.

Seeing work online is one thing.

Standing in front of it, meeting the artist and hearing something of the story behind it can completely change the experience.

That is one of the great things galleries give us — not simply walls on which to hang art, but places where people, ideas and conversations can meet.

A big thank you to @newartgallery_boyle , Creative Places Ballaghaderreen and curator @catherinefanningvisualartist for such a welcoming afternoon.

And what a joy it was to meet so many of the exhibiting artists and to see their wonderful work in person:
