A big congratulations to Margaret Glad, your 2026 women’s champion at this year’s Portland Marathon presented by Nike Running. She came blazing over the finish line with a time of 2:52:32.

Thanks for bringing the speed to the streets and neighborhoods of Portland this weekend. You make 26.2 look easy!

My Boston Story

Freshman year of college, I watched the Boston Marathon with zero ability or interest in running. I didn’t even know a marathon was 26.2 miles (lol)… and couldn’t even imagine running more than a single mile. But that day watching the runners stuck with me, and I was in pure awe of what they were capable of.

In June 2023, I signed up for a half marathon just for fun. I had no plan, no watch—just running to a point on Apple Maps and back. I initially had very little confidence in myself as an athlete / runner, but somehow I fell in love with the sport.

In November of my junior year, I ran the Cambridge Half in 1:48 and discovered how much I LOVED racing. It was actually electric and addicting to me. I felt so confident out there. After this race, I set an insane, scary, public goal: train for a marathon and qualify for Boston.

I went all in: self-coached from hours on end of YouTube, speed workouts, & strength training. And 10 months after I started my running journey from scratch, I ran my first marathon and qualified for Boston.

Two weeks before graduating college, I ran Boston. The same race that once felt impossible became my reality. This was my butterfly moment. 🦋 I found my wings. I’ve never been so proud of myself. I’m able to look back on this day and think of how what used to be completely impossible for me, I made into my reality. This weekend and race will always hold a special place in my heart.
