20-ish years of friendship! An absolutely perfect night on the water, reconnecting and marveling at the gorgeous spectacle that is New York City. We celebrated ourselves, our kids, and wondered, forgive the cliche, where the time has gone. GO KNICKS!

The luck was with (some of) us when we traveled to Atlantic City for our "annual" ladies poker group trip last week. Not a lot of sleep was had (except for Jill, ever practical) as we hit the poker room, black jack tables, and Wheel of Fortune slots.

Great poker week! Not only did I get to spend time with two different groups of awesome women, I won both nights. Should I quit my day job...

This bike
The first summer I rented a house with friends in Shelter Island, I bought this bike at the bike shop in the Heights. For 8 years it got me everywhere I needed to go from the grocery store to the beach.

We selected our house specifically because we wouldn’t need a car. We’d take the bus from NYC to the ferry and walk to our house.

Sunset Beach wasn’t anything more than a beach to go to (and then it wasn’t), we’d occasionally go to the Quaker Meetings in the woods, never went to cocktail parties but had our own fun at our house.

After the first year, we rented the house year round. Every weekend, we’d take that bus to the ferry and make the walk.

The housemates revolved a little but there was a core group. Eventually I had the house upstate, so 2002 was the last year of renting.

And here the bike sits, upstate at my yard sale, hoping to find a new owner who can fix her up and make their own stories with her.
