*CASE MALTA PARTICIPANT RECRUITMENT OPEN!*

We are now recruiting participants for the next cycle of the CASE Malta programme, taking place in February 2024. The programme will take place both online and in-person in Malta. CASE Malta is a new training and development programme for artists and creative practitioners in Malta, developed by @artscouncilmalta and @in_place_of_war It is a bespoke programme tailored to the needs of early-mid career artists and creatives in Malta, helping to build capacity, knowledge and skills that will enable opportunities for growth.

The deadline for applications is 6pm GMT on Wednesday 13th December 2023. Unveiling the paradox, this work employs non-edible ingredients as conduits for delving into the intricate tapestry of socio-political traditions. Created using leftovers from a traditional Palestinian meal, maqlouba, growing, decaying, and changing in petri dishes over time. Home is Where the Maqlouba is, offers a commentary on the multifaceted nature of food economies, revealing their profound connections to realms far beyond mere sustenance. In this exploration, we are beckoned to question the subtle interplay of culture, power, preservation, archival processes, and history that intertwine within the culinary narratives of our world.

“Beyond What Drifts Us Apart” is an art project curated by Elyse Tonna. Four International and Maltese Artlsts work around and in Qualet Marku, one of several watchtowers. They were built in the 17th century under the reign of the Knights. The event is part of the Mahalla Festival in cooperation with Unfinished Art Space Malta in the Frame of the MagiC Carpets Platform. The second workshop of our Erasmus+ project is over. What a great experience with our partners @gabrielcaruanafoundation and @destructura! This time the focus was on interdisciplinary collaboration, collective practices, the status of the artist, and the ecology of the arts from a grass-roots perspective.

👉The third workshop is going to be organised in Budapest, Hungary, stay tuned!

Our second session of #freshfabrik really energized us! We spent the day in Balzan, which we were obviously pleased to do for the connection we have to this beautiful village, the birth place of Gabriel Caruana. Thank you goes to Mgr Karm Farrugia Parish Priest of Balzan for hosting us at the Parish Centre, the place served as a quiet and serene respite to focus our discussion on collaborations, different disciplines and the status of the artist.
Thank you also to @balzan_fc for hosting a delicious lunch.

We spent the afternoon with the marvellous Martina Zammit of @zfinmalta @glencalleja of @sssolipsis and @karstenxuereb of @inizjamed

The dance studio became a space for sharing different experiences. We spoke about the struggles and possibilities of spaces and collaborations. The inventiveness, perseverance and knowledge that comes with having an artistic practice.

Thanks goes to the GCF team @raffaellaz @elysetonna and @tina.sidelinestudios together with @margeritapule for developing and organizing the Fresh Fabrik Malta workshop.

We have just delivered the second cycle of the CASE Malta Programme!

Huge congrats to all of the participants who have worked extremely hard over the past three weeks to take part in the intensive training, and prepare and deliver their amazing pitches to the panel last week @valletta_design_cluster

The CASE Programme is a new training and development programme for artists and creative practitioners in Malta, delivered by @in_place_of_war in partnership with @artscouncilmalta This second cycle was expertly delivered by Maltese Trainer Margerita Pulè - thank you @margeritapule 💫

The next cycle of the programme will take place in February 2024, watch this space!
