After leaving Friends in NYC it was off to Stars Hollow in Connecticut (aka Warner Brothers Studio) for the real reason for this visit- the Gilmore Girls Holiday Extravaganza! Searching for Luke @scottgordonpatterson all day but alas we were not successful. So fun to walk around the sweet little town and see Luke’s Diner, meet the troubadour, see Mrs. Kim’s Antique Store, the Independence Inn, the Dragonfly Inn, Lorelei’s house, Miss Patty’s Dance Studio, the gazebo, the snowman contest, the Stars Hollow welcome sign, the bookstore, the video store, Chilton, the thinking tree, and so much more! It was a very Barbie Saturday, starting with the @barbieclubinternational meeting that I watched on zoom in the car as @shawstein gave a presentation on the cultivation of Barbie on the way to San Diego with @margiemaar and @hrmaar . This was followed by lunch at the @barbiecafeofficial when Barbie, Ken, and Allan enjoyed some spinach artichoke dip and fruit kebabs. Birthday fun for me today in Solvang! 🥳🎂Mini-me got some pretty red wooden clogs at the Solvang Shoe Store. We had brunch at Paula’s Pancake House, got fudge at The Fudge Kitchen, and aebleskivers to end off our day just before they closed. It was a very hot day! If it wasn’t for all the Christmas trees you might think it was a July day. After three hours in traffic we came home, had dinner at my favorite restaurant, and had a little chocolate cake with Barbie sprinkles! Thank you to all my family and friends who came from near and far (mostly far because no one lives where the party was!) A super big thank you to my Mom @margiemaar , my brothers @mrmichaelmaar and @hrmaar , my sister-in-law @kristiann6 who made this party possible. @kristiann6 and @mrmichaelmaar who secured the room, and insured we had food and cake and drinks! @kristiann6 and @thebarbiehoarder who stayed up extremely late and helped clean up. I think we left the room looking better than when we found it. My friends who traveled from out of state @kimisbarbies came out from Washington, @nrfbqueen came out from Arizona and @desertstingraynv and @mtn_lvr who completely surprised me. I had no idea they would be coming in from Las Vegas! Thank you Perry and Renee that was the best surprise!! Friends who drove many hours to get to the party! It is not lost on me how far you had to travel. Thank you everyone you made this birthday unforgettable! Thank you for all my presents- which I have yet found a place to sit and open them… hopefully I will get that accomplished today! Happy National Redhead Day! Four of my favorite titians are going out on the town to celebrate! The very first original #1 Barbie prototype was a redhead, like Barbara Handler, but was not produced. She is stunning and owned by @marlbeedee . It was not until Ponytail #5 would Barbie become a redhead. Redheads with blue eyes like me have 0.17 chance of being born like this! We are the rarest combination. Although looking at my immediate family you would never know it. We are 80% redheads with blue eyes. Do you know where you were on October 3, 1988? No? Not alive yet? Well I know where I was, because it will always be a sacred day in my life! It was the first time I went to a concert and it was of course George Michael’s iconic Faith tour! I had waited years for this moment, having not been old enough to go see Wham! Angela and I had gotten in line after school at Music Plus to make sure we were not going to miss George! That was in May and the concert was five months away! Torturous! But I was excited everyday for the first time I’d get to breathe the same air in the same room as George Michael! My mom went with us to The Great Western Forum while my Dad waited out in the van.
