We all know that reading is subjective. One person's 5 star read could be someone else's one star read. I thought this would be a fun little post to see what some of my booksta friends think is worth the hype, overhyped, and underhyped.

This post kind of made me giggle because as you'll see two people chose the same series but felt completely different about it and that's ok. I might have also added a new one to my TBR.

Wow! I was speechless the moment this book ended. I was only repeating the word, wow!

This book was wild yet grounded. Bizarre yet realistic. It actually reminded me a lot of normal people but a poorer and cannibalistic version of it.
This is a love story and also a commentary on the job condition and the dire financial situation faced by a lot of people. In this book, we follow Gu and Dam, childhood friends to lovers who are literally obsessed with each other. They have a bond that transcends love. Both of them are literally the sunshine in the others' pathetic life. In the beginning we see Gu bring dead due to some reason and because Dam is grieving and she doesn't want to let him go, she decides to instead eat him so that he will always be a part of her. She doesn't want to leave him to the world that was never good to him.

I just loved how the author blended two different genres, one being a love story and the other, commentary. She crafted such a beautiful, coherent, and realistic story that i was in awe the whole time. I could feel the love, the obsession, the grief, the caring nature of them both. I could feel the thoughts they were having. And i loved how she incorporated that love story in a realistic situation where money ultimately trumps everything. No matter how much you love someone, society, life and the world will always throw problems your way, and you will have to fight every single day to survive.

This book highlights how human beings are, how money controls everything, how society behaves, and what makes you a human being. How difficult it is to just survive every single day, giving your all and still not getting rewarded for it. But it is also a love story. It is about the bond between these two people , and even though their love doesn't solve their problems, it still helps knowing you have someone special in your life to share these problems with.

I LOVED this book so much. It is definitely one of my top reads of 2025 and maybe also an all-time favourite. I highlighted the whole book, i think, because the writing was impeccable.
