Finally taking a moment to reflect back on the 5th annual (!) @taketheleadwithus 🥹. A love letter to LA courtesy of @iammarthagarcia and special moments together with @alisonmdesir. Working on taking time to practice gratitude, using my voice, and taking up space. And was so energized by all the new faces in the room 🙏🏼.

@sydney_marathon , you were a tough one — and I’m grateful for you. 💙

Yes, friends, this was probably one of the toughest things I’ve ever put my body through. Going in with a foot injury that had majorly disrupted my training, I was nervous. Nervous my foot would give out. Nervous my mental resilience would give out. Because here’s the thing about marathons. . .at some point, they become more mental than physical — even though, physically, you’re hurting.

There were definitely moments during this marathon when I questioned my entire existence, but leaning into the crowds, focusing on what my body could do, and remembering that I had the chance to travel thousands of miles from home to run a major marathon @wmmajors in a beautiful city helped put things into perspective. #justsaying

Having 26.2 miles to reflect also got me thinking about how hard we can be on ourselves. Our brains naturally tend to focus on what’s going wrong — the pain, the disappointment, what didn’t go according to plan — and sometimes that overshadows what is going right. That doesn’t mean we don’t acknowledge what isn’t great. It means we can hold space for the fact that two things can be true.

Maybe this marathon was harder than I wanted. AND my foot carried me 26.2 miles. Maybe my training wasn’t what I hoped. AND I still made it to the start line. Maybe I walked A LOT. AND I kept going and finished. #slowandsteadywinstherace

Sometimes the work is to catch the thought, stay present, look for the glimmers, and give them some gratitude. Because what’s hard can be true. And so can what’s beautiful. Both can exist at the same time.

Sydney, thank you for reminding me of that. #sothoughtful And special shout-out and BIG thank you to my foot for not failing me. She’s the real MVP. #queen 👑

(Also, I’m still raising money for @girlgangcrazy an organization that empowers women through movement and sisterhood. If you’d like to support post-marathon, you can still donate through the link in my bio, and thank you again to everyone who has already donated. You are MVPs too. ❤️)
