When the Rain Came: The Story.

This is a long one, but trust me, it’s worth the read…

The story of the unexpected storm, the sunshine that followed, and how we pulled off one of the greatest wedding recoveries in Europe in less than 45 minutes.

Sophie and Harold’s wedding at Castell de Sant Marçal began and ended beautifully. The sun was shining, it was over 30 degrees, and dinner was perfectly set beneath the lime trees.

Then, completely out of nowhere, the rain came and it poured!

The strange part? Every forecast still showed clear skies and temperatures of 30 degrees. No warning. No sign. Just unexpected rain appearing from nowhere.But as a wedding planner, there is never much time to stand still. My first thought was simple: protect the couple and guests’ experience.

Sophie and Harold were incredible. They simply said, “Gabby, whatever you suggest, we’ll do.”

That level of trust meant everything.

We quickly moved the guests inside while we worked with our amazing MC to rearrange the order of proramme. The champagne,speeches and games continued, and the guests remained entertained while we created Plan B behind the scenes.

Now, this is where it became a real challenge.

As a dry-hire venue, there wasn’t another fully dressed room waiting for us. Everything had been ordered specifically for the outdoor setup. So the entire team came together to carry, clean, dry and reset every candle, flower and piece of décor.

Within 30 to 45 minutes, the new room was ready and the wedding continued without missing a beat.

How did we keep everything on schedule? Experience. We always include buffer time because a strong wedding plan isn’t only about what happens when everything goes perfectly. It’s also about being ready when it doesn’t.

The rain could have ruined the evening, but instead, it became part of their beautiful story. The couple chose joy, the guests brought the energy, and the team showed what true teamwork looks like.
