$The Progressive Candidate Program & Support Community (PCP) is ONE YEAR OLD today!! 🎉 I originally created this Instagram account to do ethical marketing and business coaching for solo entrepreneurs… And I started interviewing grassroots-funded, progressive candidates for the U.S. House & Senate for no other reason than it gave me hope. On September 25th of last year, I was sitting at my friend Luke from @reasoned_reality ‘s kitchen table in San Diego. I said something like… “I’ll be on my phone for a bit. I need to connect these candidates to one another. They’re all having the same struggles…but alone.” And what started as 4 candidates from all across the country in a group text became a signal chat the next day… Which became a place for us to figure out TOGETHER what was working. By November, there were 30 or so candidates in the community, and @citizensimpeachment @couragefordemocracy reached out. We held a press conference together at the National Press Club in DC during Remove the Regime, and their initiative, the Courage Candidates, was born. We’ve continued to support similar candidates alongside organizations like @flare.usa … Candidates who represent a different standard of leadership. Candidates in the PCP have a few throughlines - they *do not accept corporate PAC or AIPAC money.* They’re deeply policy fluent and excellent communicators. Nuanced thinkers. Collaborative leaders. PLEASE get out to support grassroots-funded progressive candidates at local, state, and federal levels. On a fraction of the funding, it truly takes an army of motivated volunteers… But as we’ve seen in races like @angieforfl ‘s… IT CAN BE DONE.
