The #SkylightInn was opened in Eden, NC in 1947 serving a whole hog recipe that was perfected over 100 years prior. The grandson of that proprietor opened a #MichelinAwarded offshoot of the original in downtown Raleigh called #SamJonesBBQ. We came for the world famous #PulledPork, here are our thoughts:

1. Pulled Pork: was a little too mushy and tasted a little too porky. We heard about the famous skin pieces embedded within the chop which would give a burst of flavor and texture in most bites, we found none. Not Certified;

2. Pork Rib: not tender but flavorful. Smokey and generally well cooked. Actually a great taste. Certified;

3. Smoked Chicken: could taste the smoke throughout the meat. Pieces were juicy. Flavor of the skin was a compliment to the texture of the meat. Certified;

4. Mac & Cheese: thick, cheesy, rich flavor. Certified;

5. Baked Beans: not sweet. Bold yet not spicy. Compliments the mac & cheese but not good enough to stand on its own. Not Certified;

6. Greens: too much vinegar, very acidic. Not Certified;

7. Banana Pudding: secret MVP. Sweet. Thick. A little spicy might I say…well it has spices in it. lol. Definitely an antebellum recipe! Certified.
