Darlings!! Mr. Hoot and I had a date this afternoon at @sigtheatre to see Merrily We Roll Along and it was SPECTACULAR! It was perfection. Every detail. The cast was soooo good. I knew some of the songs, had directed the pit orchestra 22 years ago, but heavens I was not prepared. Guffawing to wiping away tears. Go see it!

Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along is running at Signature Theatre, and it is an absolute masterpiece! A literal emotional rollercoaster from start to finish is only okay when the voices sound like that! Another beautiful Signature musical!!!

Hey, Old Friend!🫰 My favorite Sondheim, and a musical that has always felt deeply personal about friendship, growing older, the things I wish I could do differently, and somehow, the things I wouldn’t change at all. After seeing Groff, Radcliffe & Mendez’s Merrily eight times, including closing, I never thought I’d get as emotional. But I still did. From that beautiful overture to Our Time. I especially loved sharing this with my best friend since the 7th grade and my theater buddy with whom I bonded through our mutual love for this show in NY!

This time, I wondered if the journey backward isn’t just about regret or longing for what was, but about the quiet hope that maybe we’re not too far gone to begin again—to find our way back to the people we were, or forward to the people we still have time to become. Here’s to us! ❤️
