Hi, I’m El Rulo, an artist from Munich.

I mainly work with oil and acrylic on a wide variety of surfaces.

For me, art is above all a way of regulating myself. It’s an outlet that allows me to process my thoughts and feelings and to engage with what’s happening around me.

The current political situation around the world has a strong impact on me. There’s a lot going on right now that you simply can’t remain untouched by.

I always try to bring colour and lightness into my paintings. Yet, as the painting process unfolds, they often develop a certain heaviness of their own.

Das Bild von Maria Rulo verbindet Ruhe mit intensiver Emotion. Die klare, fast fragile Figur hebt sich stark vom lebendigen Hintergrund ab. Besonders die blauen Konturen und die goldenen Strukturen verleihen dem Werk Tiefe und eine besondere Spannung zwischen Verletzlichkeit und Stärke.

Als ich aus dem Urlaub kam lag eine Nachricht vor, dass ich ein Gewinnspiel direkt von @mariarulo_art gewonnen habe, welche grosse Freude❤️ , damit hätte ich nicht gerechnet und im Urlaub hatte ich ja Instapause gemacht. Umso schöner, dass mein Gewinn nicht verfallen ist, denn heute kam mein Gewinn an.

°Contraste 17/03 - 25/04

Vernissage on the 17th went great 🙏

A lot more people showed up than expected!

I can feel myself trying to settle down but still very much full with all of the impressions.
It is challenging to process everything as it happens and i feel some guilt for not feeling more joyful or grateful in the exact moment usually. While everything is happening, i mostly feel some overwhelm and wanting to hold space for everyone to feel alright.
It takes plenty energy for a bat like me to be in a room with so many people and noise at the same time. 🦇

I had said to Isabel how the room was much larger than I expected and that i never filled that kind of space alone before.
In the end I was surprised how easy and quickly the space got occupied!

Before exposing i quickly fixed some holes in the wall with white paint and some dark spots to make everything more nice and crisp for the guests.

I had artist @mariarulo_art randomly bring some white curtains over on the actual day as well as expo lights and a lamp that magically appeared! Very unexpected and lovely support! 🌷

🪻Two of my best friends brought flowers which was also very unexpected but extra sweet. ❤️

I managed to sell some prints and hand cut envelopes and a postcard (did not bring more this time). A personal highlight of mine was selling a poster directly off the wall! 😂

I was happy to see how my soul tribe connected and how everyone seemed to have a good time, i got positive feedback throughout, which kind of seemed like I had to be doing something right at least. 🐛

When I had to announce the opening and speak i was very stressed and tried to do my best to just relax, but still those social situations still remain very challenging for my nervous system 👁🧞‍♀️🙏🏽

Was happy to earn the trust and have the opportunity to work until the finissage end of April in @karli17.muenchen and grateful to meet and connect with new artists from the house and learn and grow together!
