50 mile ultramarathon ❤️‍🔥

covered my longest distance ever at @rocktheridge50miler last weekend. it was exhilarating — fun, hard, beautiful, and even a little scary when I started hitting mileage that was the farthest I’d ever gone. five months of training, practicing fueling, and several trail marathons and 50Ks paid off. sobbed uncontrollably at the finish, tears of joy and awe, and mostly gratitude to my body, family, and friends who’ve shown up for me throughout this entire pursuit.

I love ultras because they feel like a solo mental and physical challenge, but the truth is I did not and could never do it alone. endless thank you to @leelazoom for patience when I’ve been out training and racing almost every weekend since winter, to my commune crew @mariatridas and @veeforvictory for being the kindest, most generous friends and schlepping all over to support me on race day (there are no words to express how much I love and appreciate y’all), thank you to @amoynehan and Chelsea for greeting me at the finish, @arutbeck — who I especially carried in my heart and mind during the final three mile descent — and @gloriousnothing for recovery pizza and being part of the team that set this whole thing off (#RenegadesofGunk4eva), @krissyjuliet for being there in spirit, to my Gotham Roller Derby and Blink work crew for the messages and indulging my most delulu endeavors, thank you to @sassquadttailrunning for being an inclusive and encouraging entry point to trail running and ultras, to the incredible @tabata_ultimate_fitness instructors (especially the amazing @__norrtheexplorer) for keeping me strong to take on endurance challenges, and finally to everyone who reached out. you know who you are and you truly helped me cross the finish line.

a few years ago, I did a 10 mile race and vowed that I’d never run a single step further. okay, girl. ultrarunning has given me a new sense of wonder. no one gave me those 50 miles and no one can take them away. I’m so fucking grateful. if this Philly kid with acrylic nails and an aversion to camping can learn to scramble and cross streams, anyone can do it. hanging my sneakers up to recover, then we’ll see what’s next.

raised in Philly, liberated by NYC. elated for the city that’s given me so much the past 17 years. we did in fact drive around Brooklyn blasting Hamilton because living in Mamdani’s NBA Championship-winning New York means being in a euphoric TikTok edit IRL. Knicks, Pride, World Cup, Puerto Rican Day Parade…this place is unmatched.

the exhilaration of the weekend had the feeling of 2011, when NY legalized same-sex marriage and I went to my first Pride as an out queer person at 24. feels like we’re getting back on the correct timeline. should I also mention that we saw Titanique with bestie @arutbeck on Saturday before watching the game and making our way to 42nd street? multitudes.

Beyond belated, but my best friends and the busiest girls in the world wrote and directed a movie! it won Best Narrative Short at Tribeca! We had so much fun shooting then we went to NYC aka the big onion and celebrated our hearts out. I’m full of gay love because of it.

@tusk_creative inspires me every day and I love everything about @ripe__film. At the risk of being saccharine as hell, I’ll say this; I wish I had this movie when I was a closeted teen playing sports.

Olivia and Kerry, thank you for bringing us along on this beautiful ride. Queer joy furever!!!! I can’t believe how lucky we are to know you.

I script supervised, Fi the love of my life shot stills, my dude River animal wrangled the HELL out of it, and the captain of our hearts, minds and production Cookie steered the ship. Stars on and off the field named Kelly and Kam made it all happen along with a very special guy named Luke. Bad ass folks shot, edited, colored, production designed, costume designed, and made it work in SPAIN thanks to @japonicafilms . I’ll remember this one forever.
