Your favorite primer can only do so much. 👀

I don’t think I’ve shared this enough, but I’m actually a licensed esthetician. I learned about skin alongside makeup, and one thing I wish more bridal makeup artists talked about is this:

What your bride does BEFORE she sits in your chair matters.

Yes, your products, technique, and wedding morning skin prep matter. But you can’t expect a few minutes of moisturizer to undo weeks of dry, flaky skin.

Makeup can even out color. It can soften the appearance of texture. But it doesn’t erase pores or magically make every patch of dry skin disappear.

And with oily skin? We can manage shine, but we can’t promise her skin will stop producing oil.

This is why educating your bride is part of the service. Help her understand how to care for her skin ahead of time, including consistent hydration and appropriate, gentle exfoliation for her skin.

It’s teamwork. You bring the artistry, and you give her guidance so she knows how to prepare.

You don’t need your bride to have perfect skin. You do need to have this conversation before the wedding morning.

I WON BEST OF FLORIDA 2026 IN THE MAKEUP ARTIST DIVISION 😭🏆🤍

And I genuinely feel so grateful for this recognition, because the truth is, nobody really knows how hard we work behind the scenes as makeup artists unless you live it yourself.

And I’m gonna say something that I feel VERY strongly about…

I am so tired of makeup artists being looked down upon.

You tell someone you’re a makeup artist and sometimes it’s like, “Aw, that’s cute.” 😂

Or people question your pricing.

Or they make comments like, “So you just play with makeup all day?”

And meanwhile… this career has funded my life. It has allowed me to build a business, create a team, work with incredible brides, travel, create opportunities for myself and now even teach and mentor other bridal makeup artists.

So if there is anything I want another makeup artist to take from me receiving this recognition, it’s this:

TAKE YOURSELF SERIOUSLY.

Take your role as a professional makeup artist seriously.

Take your bridal makeup business seriously.

Carry yourself like the CEO of the million-dollar business you are building.

Because the more seriously YOU believe in what you do, the more that energy starts reflecting in everything.

Your pricing.
Your content.
Your client experience.
Your boundaries.
The way you speak about your business.
The type of brides you attract.
The opportunities you say yes to.
ALL OF IT.

You have to believe so wholeheartedly in your work that nobody can make you question what you bring to the table.

And whoever chooses not to book you, doesn’t understand your pricing, questions what you do for a living, doubts you or has nothing good to say about the career that is funding YOUR lifestyle and allowing YOU to build the life of your dreams…

Baby girl, that is none of your business. 😂

That is all on them.

So cheers to being freaking badass makeup artists over here. 💄😂

I had this realization while walking on the beach…

Isn’t it wild to think that if I had settled for a life that didn’t fulfill me, I would’ve never experienced this?

If I had convinced myself to stay where I no longer felt aligned…
If I had believed my dreams were unrealistic…
If I had decided that security was more important than purpose…

…I would’ve never known this version of my life existed.

And that thought stopped me in my tracks.

Not because this trip is about Punta Cana or a beautiful resort, but because it’s proof of what can happen when you choose yourself.

Every decision to trust my God-given gifts, every uncomfortable leap, every risk, every season of uncertainty led me here.

Today, I get to fly to destination weddings, serve incredible brides, build a business I genuinely love, and create a life that feels more aligned than I ever imagined.

The most beautiful part?

This moment doesn’t make me think, “I’ve made it.”

It makes me wonder…

If this became possible because I was willing to dream bigger once… what else is waiting for me if I continue to expand?

Maybe this is your reminder not to settle for a life that no longer fits who you’re becoming.

Your dream life doesn’t happen overnight—but it also doesn’t happen if you never give yourself permission to pursue it. 🤍

I spent this week in Punta Cana for a destination wedding, and moments like these can easily feel like you’re on a paid vacation.

The truth? They’re still work trips.

Yes, I absolutely loved every second of celebrating this incredible bride. She and her family were so warm and welcoming that it honestly felt wrong not to join in on some of the festivities.

But I also knew my priority.

Before wedding day, I made sure I got enough sleep, stayed hydrated, ate well, and protected my energy so I could show up at 100% for my bride. That’s the responsibility that comes with being a destination bridal makeup artist.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is knowing when to enjoy the experience and when to switch back into professional mode.

Your bride is trusting you with one of the biggest days of her life. Every interaction matters—not just with her, but with her family, bridal party, planner, photographer, and every vendor you’ll meet. Your professionalism becomes part of your reputation.

The destination is beautiful, but your client’s experience will always come first. And when you lead with excellence, you often get to enjoy both. 🤍✈️💄
