$Today, I’m launching The Other Studio, pt. 1 of The Other World, an independent creative ecosystem I’ve been quietly building. The Other Studio brings services in strategy, creative and design leadership, integrated marketing, PR, editorial & cultural programming to shape how brands, organizations, places are experienced, whom they reach, and how their worlds can be meaningfully expansive. So, who are the others? The name is personal. I’ve always felt like the other, and I’ve always been drawn to the rawness and richness of people and places with worlds and visions distinctly their own. The others aren’t one type of person. They’re the ones whose tastes, needs, and ambitions make our world as rich as it is: built against the mold, and more beautiful for it. For years I’ve led creative and strategic work across beauty, healthcare, media, and cultural institutions, often as the person brought in to see the whole picture. I’ve long questioned whether the world needed another studio. But I’ve watched what happens when someone takes the time to understand what makes a brand, a storefront, a public institution, or a district singular, and who it’s for. It creates opportunity. It shapes culture. It invites people into something they value, care for, and return to. Care and grit, the two words at the heart of The Other. Care for the people, cultures, and living world our choices affect, and grit to question convention and do the difficult, beautiful work of building things that last. This year, I returned to school in London and Silicon Valley through @futurelondonacademy Executive Programme for Design Leaders. Learning with and from creative leaders around the world affirmed what I’d been practicing for years: connecting creativity, culture, business, and community isn’t scattered; it’s a way to lead.
