POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sydney Sweeney’s recent ad sparked a huge conversation about the way women are represented in sports. And instead of focusing on women’s bodies, I wanted to focus on something else: their stories. Their stories should be the real women in sports’ ad ❤️

Pola Bełtowska, Nika Prevc, Sarah Hendrickson, Eva Pinkelnig, Annika Malacinski, Mari Leinan Lund, Lisa Hirner and Minja Korhonen represent just eight of countless stories in women’s sport.

Stories of pressure. Injuries. Comebacks. Sacrifice. Determination. Young athletes breaking through. Women fighting for their place. Women who keep going when things get difficult.

These eight stories are only examples. Behind every sportswoman there is something we may never see from the outside, years of training, personal sacrifices, setbacks, doubts, victories and an incredible amount of strength.

Their bodies are part of their sport. But they are not the whole story.

Every sportswoman is more than a body. She is an athlete. She is a story. She is strength.

And maybe that’s what we should be talking about. 🏔️🎿

What a career for @marillund which unfortunately ended way too early🥹 Nevertheless, so many great memories and unforgettable moments✨
