Latest Flower Power Podcast episode is out and its Everything Welwitschia! @marinsect_gianluca joins me to discuss propagating, growing, troubleshooting and everything in between. He was instrumental in getting the @ucdavisbotanicalconservatory collection to look so amazing. He was the first employee to transplant our mature 77 year old specimen in 45 years and got them to start producing seed again. Check out the episode on apple, Spotify and link in stories. Here he and Shawn are transplanting one of the oldies a few years ago. Plus check out the nursery they both own @rareplantcatalog #welwitschia #welwitschiamirabilis #rareplants #plantpodcast gardenpodcast

Before Rare Plant Catalog, we were four friends who shared a lifelong obsession with plants and nature. We came from different but connected worlds: working at small nurseries, startups, and studying horticulture at UC Davis. We still remember the excitement of starting out with a wishlist of plant names and no idea where to find them. This was built to keep that spirit alive and help others wherever they are on their plant journey. More to come soon about our production nursery, the LA store, and how we do things day to day.

We’ve been putting this together for a while, and it finally feels ready to share. Rare Plant Catalog has grown between our ranch in Sonoma County and LA, with a production nursery up north, a small store starting to open in Echo Park, and the site is now live. Check out what’s available, and keep an eye out as we share more in the coming weeks.
