🌊✨ Dash Makes a Splash! ✨🌊

I’m so excited to share one of the books I recently illustrated, Dash Makes a Splash, written by the wonderful @marissabaderwriter! 🩵

This one holds a special place in my heart because of the message it shares with young readers: no matter how big or small you are, you can make an impact on the world around you. And honestly, that message feels especially meaningful in today’s world.

I’m incredibly proud of how this little story came to life, and so grateful to Marissa for trusting me with your wonderful book and allowing my illustrations to help bring Dash’s world to life.

Dash Makes a Splash is now available at marissabader.com, Amazon, and most online bookstores! 📚✨

Go meet Dash and make a little splash of your own! 💦🩵

This week’s Book Worth Reading is Dash Makes a Splash by the talented Marissa Bader (@marissabaderwriter), and if you’re familiar with her SEL books, you already know she has a way of tackling meaningful topics in a way that feels really accessible for little ones.

Dash is the tiniest droplet in the cloud, and he wishes he were bigger and more like the other drops around him. But when Dash makes an unexpected splash, he starts to discover that even the smallest drop can make a pretty big difference.

What I really liked about this story is how naturally it opens the door to conversations about belonging, inclusion, friendship, and self-worth. Dash spends so much of the story focused on how he’s different, only to realize that he doesn’t need to change to have value.

I also love that the text weaves the water cycle and a little STEM learning into Dash’s journey. It gives kids something to learn about while also reinforcing a message that I think so many little ones need to hear: you don’t have to be like everyone else to matter.

And the subtle reminder that even a tiny splash can create a ripple? Such a sweet way to show kids that their actions can have an impact, too.

This would be a great addition to a home or classroom bookshelf for ages 4–8.

This mama says it’s a book most definitely worth reading.

Dash Makes a Splash is a sweet, beautifully told picture book with a message children need to hear: you don’t have to be the biggest, fastest, or loudest to matter. I especially loved how Marissa Bader weaves social-emotional learning into the water cycle, giving children a story about courage, friendship, belonging, and recognizing their own worth while also introducing science in an engaging way.

Dash is an incredibly relatable character, especially for children who sometimes wonder where they fit or whether they are enough. The reminder that even the tiniest drop can create a ripple is powerful without feeling heavy-handed. This would be a wonderful addition to a home, classroom, counseling office, or preschool library. Five stars!

Meet Dash! The main character of @marissabaderwriter new book,
Dash Makes a Splash! 💦

A picture book about the tiniest droplet on the cloud discovering just how much he matters.

I was so honored when Marissa asked me to create her book’s mascot, Dash, as a plushie.

I had never just created something like this before and was a little nervous. But I think he turned out so sweet and cute!

Be sure to follow @marissabaderwriter as Dash makes his debut in Dash Makes a Splash, September 29th!
