LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES...

Daniel Nashed had a combined 10 wins during his freshman and sophomore seasons. Heading into his junior year, he almost didn’t come out for the team. Fortunately, he wrestled and responded with 19 wins. As a senior, an injury caused him to miss half the season, but he battled back, won several key matches, and earned his first District medal. Perseverance pays off.

Mark Gass earned two varsity letters as an underclassman before deciding to focus on lacrosse during his junior year. He was missed tremendously. Most of the time, when athletes step away to focus on another sport, they don’t return. But Gass was true to his word. After committing to play college lacrosse, he came back for his senior season and made an impact immediately. He picked up big wins at the Big North Duals and State Sectional Quarterfinals. It was great having his presence back in the Small Gym.

Dima Bohdan arrived in the 🇺🇸 as a sophomore with a Sambo background. Little did we know the ride we were about to take. Dima placed at Districts twice and came close to qualifying for States as a junior. After a heartbreaking loss in the Region semifinals this year, he faced the #1 seed with a trip to Atlantic City on the line. He delivered a thrilling come from behind victory to punch his ticket to the State Tournament. Once there, he defeated a 40-win wrestler and returning State place winner, and was tied in the second period of the blood round before falling just short. Not bad for only 2½ years of wrestling.

Three different journeys. Three different stories.

Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you’re going to get.
