There’s nothing our cast can’t do. 😂🎬

Sometimes you act. Sometimes you grab the boom. Sometimes you help get the camera inserts. 🎤🎥

Whatever it takes to get the shot.

⭐ FILMMAKER SPOTLIGHT: MARK KANDBORG ⭐

Mark Kandborg wrote SLANT from closer to the subject than most screenwriters would probably care to get.

A Vancouver screenwriter and actor, Mark has spent much of his life in and around film, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. His acting credits include The Perfection, Project Blue Book and Happy Face, among others. But storytelling — and particularly an interest in why people behave as they do — has always extended beyond performance.

With a degree in psychology and first-hand familiarity with some of the darker corners of the world he depicts, Mark brought an unusual combination of personal experience and psychological insight to SLANT.

The result is an uncompromising look at the criminal underworld that refuses to romanticize its characters or make them easily digestible. Beneath the violence and criminality, SLANT is interested in the people themselves: their loyalties and betrayals, the choices they make, the stories they tell themselves, and the complicated forces that bind them together.

For Mark, writing SLANT meant drawing on experiences and observations accumulated over a lifetime and putting some of that world on the page without sanding off its roughest edges.

He also appears in the film as Curly.

🎬 CAST SPOTLIGHT: Cam Woodman as Irv

🚧 Every journey begins with someone at the border.

😄 Cameron Woodman brings warmth, humour, and effortless charm to Irv, the border guard who welcomes Clarence and Paulie into a world they’ve never experienced before.

🎭 Director Chester Sit knew Cameron had the natural charisma to make Irv instantly likeable. In just a handful of scenes, he creates a character who feels authentic, memorable, and perfectly at home in the unique world of SLANT.

🌎 Sometimes the person who greets you at the border changes the course of everything that follows.

📺 Watch Cameron Woodman as Irv when SLANT premieres on Super Channel beginning August 7, 2026.

🎬 CAST SPOTLIGHT: Bennett Taylor as Murray

🚲 Every town has a Murray.

😏 The guy who’s always one step ahead… usually at someone else’s expense.

🎭 Director Chester Sit knew Bennett Taylor was the perfect choice to play such a comedic yet pivotal character, and that he would make Murray’s appearance on screen absolutely memorable.

💥 It doesn’t take long before Clarence, Paulie… and just about everyone else… have the same reaction:

“Fucking Murray.”

📺 Find out why when SLANT premieres on Super Channel beginning August 7.

More stills from SLANT showing the repercussions of gang life & racism that are hauntingly portrayed in this film. Do I dare say it had an aura of the movie Crash in which you got to see how affected everyone’s lives were, & could sympathize with the characters. Still stoked that I got to work with this crew of talented artists and some I now call friends. Thanks for bringing me on board @mark_kandborg 📸💖✨

⭐ CAST SPOTLIGHT: SKENE KITTLE ⭐

We are proud to feature Skene Kittle as Hoyt in SLANT.

One of Canada’s emerging young actors, Skene has already begun making his mark with recent credits including Dark Match and Brothers in Arms. In SLANT, he delivers a fearless performance as Hoyt—a volatile and deeply unlikeable character whose presence fuels tension and conflict throughout the film.

What makes Skene’s performance so compelling is just how far removed Hoyt is from the person behind the character.

Director Chester Sit recognized that Skene had the rare ability to disappear completely into the role, transforming from the affable and humble man Chester knew in real life into the volatile and intimidating Hoyt—a character audiences will love to hate.

Portraying a character like Hoyt takes courage, discipline, and trust, and Skene embraces the challenge with authenticity and conviction, delivering a performance that leaves a lasting impression.

Thank you, Skene, for bringing Hoyt to life and for being an important part of the SLANT journey.

📺 Stay tuned for SLANT, coming to Super Channel this August.

With a career spanning more than three decades, Stephen has captivated audiences with standout performances in Blade, Somewhere, Public Enemies, Old Henry, and the HBO series True Detective. Known for his fearless performances and commanding screen presence, Stephen continues to be one of the industry’s most respected actors.

Director Chester Sit and producer Richard Greenhalgh knew Stephen Dorff would bring something special to the role of Sid. His performance is electric, kinetic, and completely unpredictable, creating a character whose presence is felt the moment he appears on screen.

Stephen’s intensity, charisma, and commitment elevate every scene, delivering a performance that is both magnetic and unforgettable. Sid is a character audiences won’t soon forget.

Stay tuned for SLANT, coming this August to Super Channel. Broadcast date to be announced.
