My life recently pt 1

There’s so much to celebrate from yesterday’s race, and so many magical moments were created in this training block.

My family celebrated 25 years of calling NZ home this month, so this course was a special course for me. Running on Tamaki drive, a place where I’ve created so many memories, was my way of honouring the sacrifice my immigrant parents made 25 years ago, for the betterment of our family, and I’m so grateful to call NZ my home, a country that’s given us heaps.

Yesterday’s run, was a celebration of THE BEST 12 week training block I had the opportunity to do with the @miscproduct group. Coached under @david.2me, his wise words of wisdom, his humbleness and his passion and love for this sport, truly makes you realise that running is more than a sport. It’s a celebration of a community, it’s a celebration of people coming together from all walks of life, running together no matter what your pace is.

When your legs give up, all you can rely on is your mind, and yesterday’s run was fuelled by the memories created these last 12 weeks. This block I trained by effort, not pace. Running suddenly became FUN all over again, and I learnt so much more about the beauty of this sport. There were days when I got humbled, days with some PBs, and moments where I was shocked at how much my body can do… and days when I’d cry about not having work life balance, more importantly days where I was incredibly grateful to have this beautiful group I get to train with. Last week has been an emotional roller coaster with the block coming to an end.

Yesterday was also a celebration for myself, my journey and for my community. You don’t see many Indians running, let alone girls. Yesterday was purely dedicated to the younger me, to my community because if I can go from being overweight, to running a 1:36:23 half marathon yesterday, if I can run, anyone can!!!!

To anyone that cares about paces (I think I’ve stopped caring) I had a chip time of 1:36:23, averaging at 4:34 kmph. A pace I had only dreamt about.
