At the upcoming JACK THE HOUSE: ETERNAL 11.11.22 - SYDNEY, we're featuring for one night only the SUNDAZED chill out room featuring DJs playing balearic & broken beats from the early 90s, in the style of the original SUNDAZED CD.
The SUNDAZED compilation was one of the first DJ-mixed Australian chillout compilations released in 1996 featuring a bevy of artists that would be near impossible to license for a compilation these days: Massive Attack, New Order, 808 State feat. Bjork, The Prodigy, The Orb, Happy Mondays, Beats International, The Stone Roses, Leftfield, The Beloved, Eric B & Rakim. Having all these artists legally licensed and appearing together on one compilation was a huge feat enabled by Christian Barker, and I was honoured to mix the compilation the old-skool way, literally with two turntables and a mixer, recorded in one take. We didn't have the kind of editing facilities back then like we do now to chop things up if a mistake was made.
The CD became highly saught after and still has a cult following today. I still get asked if I have any copies of this CD left more than any other compilation I've mixed - and we're now 26 years on from it's release date!
If you enjoyed the CD, you'll love the SUNDAZED chill out room at this upcoming JACK THE HOUSE, with DJs mixing in the style of the CD all night long. I'll also be spinning tracks that were included on the CD later in the evening (as LL eBAY) 😄
