First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for every opportunity He has given me to play the game I have loved since I was a young kid.
It is devastating to say that I have undergone surgery following the season opener against Maine in my first season at Towson. Long story short, I suffered a turf toe injury and completely tore the ligaments in my foot, requiring surgical repair and putting me out for 3–6 months. With that comes the realistic possibility that my time playing football has reached the end of a long road.
I’d like to take this time to thank everyone who has believed in me and supported me throughout this journey—my family, teammates, coaches, friends, and everyone who has played a part along the way. I have been more than blessed to meet so many incredible people and experience so many unforgettable moments because of football.
It was truly one hell of a ride.
Football has given me more than I could have ever asked for. It has shaped who I am, challenged me, introduced me to some of the greatest people in my life, and given me memories I will carry with me forever.
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.”
Philippians 3:7–9
This passage, describing the Apostle Paul’s shift in perspective, has helped me tremendously since being injured.
Everything I have been able to accomplish through football is because of Jesus. Every championship, every accomplishment, every opportunity, every person I’ve met, and every memory I’ve made has been a blessing from Him.
