Playtober/ Inktober Day 9- Hidden Gems
I've discussed this before but I'll stress it again. With all of the different ways added on to more classical ways of finding music, you can't really say that there isn't anything going on right now that you like. Somewhere out there there's an artist who's produced some music that will just tickle your heart, get your head nodding.
Many a times it didn't even have to be produced within the last year, it could be a gem you never heard 3-5 years ago, even longer.
Go and dig, enjoy the process. It's not done in a day but that's a beautiful thing.

Day 12.0 Playtober - Signage.

drew inspiration from the book The Scarlet Letter, remember reading that when I was around 14 y.o. the Letter A became a very strong symbol for me. it immediately gave voice to so many moments of injustice, n anger at things that women and girls are made to carry in silence.

Because speaking up about it, in many societies, will get you shamed or even killed. I remember the book very well, even though I only read it once many years ago.

( also decided to post the illustration in reverse order. No real reason. sketch > finished piece )

Playtober Day 9- Hidden Gem
This was a process that took wayyyyy too long. As you can see, more time coming up with the basic idea than the full composition. But such is the journey!

Playtober day 19 - Street light. I’m currently working on concept art for a really cool project with @marcusjosephsax . Here’s one of the characters from it. The colours work super well for the theme, a futuristic afrozen jazz inspired virtual world. Under a spotlight the jazz man weeps melancholy rhythms on the side street maze…

I’ll have more from this project soon.

Day 11.0 Playtober - Roots.

I was gonna draw a character that is half roots half character ( quite basic A to B train of thoughts there ) but got visually tired to draw my OC over n over so I tried something new. Must add that this isn’t based of any culture in particular, more of a character I came up with. Plus I usually only draw female characters sooo this def needs more practice.

every year for the past 10 i’ve tried to complete inktober / playtober and gotten about halfway.

inked week 1, and this is how i’m getting on so far 🌟

I think the main things i’ve learnt from doing it over so many years are, whatever the prompt makes you think of first go with it and don’t over think it.

AND if you end up hating what you draw, it’s whatever🤷‍♀️ fun half an hour regardless sketching and having a calm mind so personally, I think that’s a win win

thank u @markmakerz.ldn playtober for the prompts, roll on week 2🌟 lol maybe I can catch up by the end of the month 🫠

Dipping into #playtober26 and took on a sketchy still life for the prompt 'home'

Why was this gold tissue box a staple in every south asian home growing up? 😂 Nobody remembers buying one. She simply arrived, sat on her doily like royalty, supervising every cup of tea, and guarding the biscuits until guests came over. ☕

Did yours have one? 👀

Day 0.10 Playtober - Silence.

This is a ‘ mental health ‘ awareness kinda post. Hope you check on your loved ones today, and get yourself on a nice peaceful walk in nature, or go do that thing that would ease up your brain space just a bit.

I’d make the caption longer, but speaking of mental health wellbeing, I also feel kinda burnt out from all the work and events taking place like a marathon lately. So this social media thing is gonna be A LOT less consistent, up to date, or up to my own ‘ standards ‘ for a while, as I’m catching my breath. Maybe that’s all that matters right now. practicing slowing down a bit.

+ posting things on October drawing challenge regardless of being out of sync w the dates both irks me & helps me let go of forcing it 🤷
