New Acquisition! 🎉 The ICA excited to announce the addition of 14 works by the Austin-based collective Okay Mountain to our permanent collection. Drawn from their "7x7 Project" (2006–2017), these collaborative mixed-media pieces follow a simple set of rules reminiscent of the Surrealist "Exquisite Corpse" technique: each measures exactly 7x7 inches, is started by one artist, and finished by another. Based in Austin, Texas, the nine-member artist collective Okay Mountain (formed in 2006) creates multidisciplinary works that playfully interrogate consumerism, materialism, and modern identity. Known for their meticulous craftsmanship and sardonic edge, the group includes artists Carlos Rosales-Silva, Josh Rios, Justin Goldwater, Ryan Hennessee, Nathan Green, Peat Duggins, Michael Sieben, Sterling Allen, and Tim Brown. 🖼 7x7 Collaborative Drawing (#12), 2011

The minimalist pieces speak with geometry and line, exploring the balance between order and chaos by introducing random elements into tightly rendered surfaces. This series of drawings by Michael Batty (@michael.batty.art) are a creative response to a journey along the Ipswich River in northeastern Massachusetts in 2003. Known for its calm waters and mirrored reflections, the river became both the inspiration and conceptual framework for the work. Executed in a single sitting with one continuous graphite line, each drawing unfolds as the line moves rhythmically back and forth across the paper, gradually filling the surface through repetition. The movement of the line serves as a metaphor for reflection itself. Like the river's surface, the drawing dissolves distinctions between up and down, interior and exterior, creating a space where orientation becomes uncertain. Dense layers of graphite obscure fixed points of reference, inviting the viewer into a visual field that shifts between depth and flatness, memory and perception. Influenced by the tradition of automatic drawing, the work embraces intuition over predetermined composition. The continuous line becomes both a record of physical movement and an act of recollection, suggesting that memory is not a fixed image but something shaped through return, rhythm, and duration. Rather than depicting the Ipswich River directly, the drawings evoke its experience—its movement, stillness, and remarkable ability to mirror the world. This work resonates with the lineage of artists such as André Masson, whose automatic drawings sought to bypass rational control; Cy Twombly, whose looping, scribbled marks hover between writing and drawing; and Agnes Martin, for whom repetition became a meditative structure rather than a compositional device. Like these precedents, the Ipswich River Drawing Series proposes drawing not simply as representation, but as a way of thinking through the body—a record of consciousness unfolding in time. @markmoorefineart

Discovered these images online of my paintings from a solo exhibition I did at Mark Moore Gallery in LA in 2002. Still love this body of work that related to the exhibition I did at the Dallas Museum of Art as well as Eugene Binder Gallery in Marfa, TX. and Barry Whistler Gallery in Dallas. A busy few years!💫💫💫🖤

Artist, @benweinerstudio has a solo presentation of new work, hosted online by @markmoorefineart on @artsy Click the link our bio to see this beautiful and engaging new series. Congratulations, Ben! Weiner recently participated in our group exhibition, “Inter | States” curated by Michael De Feo @theflowerguy and hosted by @cravencontemporary in Kent, CT. From @markmoorefineart : BEN WEINER: DAD BOD Presented by Mark Moore Fine Art and Artsy March 12 - May 3, 2026 Mark Moore Fine Art is very pleased to present “Ben Weiner: Dad Bod,” an Artsy viewing room exhibition of the artist’s recent “Diary” drawings. Weiner creates these works by soaking ink-coated paper in solutions of drugs, producing colorful, psychedelic washes. The ongoing series emerged from contemporary culture’s obsession with bodily enhancement through chemical products. In “Dad Bod”, however, the fifteen new drawings turn toward a more personal register. Harnessing abstraction’s capacity to evoke the body in its absence, in these meditative works Weiner embeds lived experience and vulnerability within mark-making, process, and material.
Weiner begins each of his “Diary” drawings by applying gestural ink marks to a sheet of chromatography paper with markers. He then soaks the ink-coated paper in solutions of crushed drugs mixed with water, which chemically breaks down the inks into hazy, prismatic spectrums of color. Through chromatography, a process used in forensic laboratories, each substance releases a distinct range of colors from the ink, enhancing the abstract gestures inscribed on the paper.
The artist typically makes his drawings using substances left from his own consumption, including marijuana, Paxlovid, Doxycycline, Penicillin, Vicodin, MDMA, Mezcal, Tylenol, and caffeine, so that the drawings constitute a chemical diary of his shifting mental and physical states.
