In the second edition of Artist on Artist, Mar Kristoff reflects on ‘Dancing Away the Apocalypse’ and ‘Ambivalence’, two works from Miranda Mazuki’s exhibition ‘Witness’ at our focus gallery.

Through Mar’s perspective, we encounter the works anew, tracing the tensions between joy, uncertainty and the complexities of existence.

Read more on his reflections in the slides.

Further installation views of ara contemporary’s presentation at Art Jakarta 2026, featuring works by artists from Indonesia and beyond.

Among the works on view is Marcos Kueh’s ‘Hope and Fear: Jujur Jakarta’ (2025), an expansion of his solo exhibition ‘Smooth Sailing, 一路順風’. Adapted to the urban and socio-political landscape of Indonesia, the work layers traditional Chinese business logos and temple blessings with vintage Indonesian corporate motifs, exploring the intersections of migration, capitalism, faith, and identity.

Its shimmering surface evokes the promise of a “better life”, while its charred edges recall Jakarta’s historical street riots and violence against ethnic minorities. Moving between hope and fear, the work reflects on histories of racialised capitalism while looking towards the possibility of a more understanding future.

We look forward to welcoming you on the final day of Art Jakarta 2026.

A little weekend vacay and other things that probably shouldn’t be documented. Somehow surfing was involved.

Grateful to Bali for all its wholesome home healing. Through the deaths, wild home renovations, and health lab rat inspections, it always manages to bring a sense of calm and ease. We love our slow life here and feel so lucky that Banksy girl chose to join us for the ride 🐀

Bagi sebagian orang, rumah adalah tempat pulang. Bagi yang lain, rumah adalah perjalanan yang tak pernah benar-benar usai. Melalui I will tell you when I am home, enam seniman dari berbagai latar belakang menghadirkan karya-karya yang merefleksikan identitas, ingatan, perpindahan, dan pencarian akan rasa memiliki.
