This past Tuesday, I attended the SummerStage reception and gallery opening honoring the great photographer Jack Vartoogian and 40 years of his images with the festival. Jack has taken incredible photos over the years, in all disciplines. In fact, he captured many photos of Alvin Ailey over the years including when I danced with the company. Re-connecting with him during my first season at SummerStage where he was a staff photographer was incredible. Love you to Jack and all the best to you and your wife Linda! You can see the collection on the 3rd floor of the Arsenal at 63rd and 5th ave. 💜💜💜

With Jack’s portrait of Ailey in “Wade in the Water” from “Revelations” in 2010. I performed with Ailey at SummerStage in 1993, the first big outdoor free concert the company had ever presented. Their two night return in 2010 remains one of my proudest presenting moments. 💜
