This past Monday, the City of Tukwila proudly proclaimed October as Filipino American History Month. Mayor Thomas McLeod issued an official proclamation celebrating the Filipino community and honoring the culture, history, and enduring contributions Filipino Americans bring to our city. Tukwila is truly stronger because of the diverse stories and traditions that shape our community. It was an honor to celebrate the Filipino community and recognize the importance of each person who is a part of Tukwila’s past, present, and shared future. Happy Filipino American History Month 🇵🇭

FANHS-GPS was proud to receive one of the City of Tacoma’s proclamations declaring October 2026 as Filipino American History Month. (Though the video above says “Heritage”, the actual Proclamation stated “History.”). A FANHS-GPS representative gave remarks following the Mayor’s reading of the Proclamation, inviting the city to attend ANI: The Harvest of History on Oct. 15 at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma from 3-7 pm. FANHS-GPS would like to thank @cityoftacoma, @marmarcastro for her coordination and dedication to amplifying Filipino American History Month, Rey Pascua for his continued support of FANHS-GPS and the Filipino community in Yakima Valley. What a meaningful way to celebrate Filipino American History Month. ✨ Our guesting at Bayanihan Filipino Day, made possible and presented by the @apcc96 at Star Community Center, was especially close to my heart. Together with our special guest brand partner, @pmxapparelofficial and our Trendsetter Family, we were able to celebrate culture, fashion, and community in one beautiful space. But beyond the fashion, this meant so much more to me. Bayanihan is about people coming together, helping one another, and carrying a shared purpose forward. That day, I saw it happening right in front of me through our models, students, families, creatives, volunteers, and community members supporting one another across generations. There was one moment that touched me deeply. One of my students stepped onto that runway carrying so much courage. He believed in himself, and his co-models and fellow students believed in him too. They stayed beside him, supported him, and helped him find the confidence to finish that walk. And he did. ❤️ For some, it may have looked like just a few steps on a runway, but to me it represented so much more. Courage, trust, growth, and the beautiful feeling of knowing that the people around you truly want to see you succeed. That is the kind of Trendsetter Family I am proud of. Not simply people who walk together, but people who lift one another so everyone gets a chance to shine. Fashion became our language that day, honoring our roots, representing who we are today, and inspiring the next generation to carry our culture proudly. Thank you, Asia Pacific Cultural Center, for creating a space where we could truly live the meaning of Bayanihan. When we lift one another, celebrate our heritage, and create together, we become part of something bigger than ourselves. That, to me, is Bayanihan. ❤️ And this is only a glimpse of what our Trendsetter Family is preparing for the Trendsetter Fashion Gala 2026, 16 Years of Creative Excellence, happening November 14 at Aura Event Center in Renton.
