Housing is a human right ❤❤❤❤❤. Let’s fight for public housing ❤ Please open this remarkable youtube video ...we must lock arms in solidarity-retrieve the humanity we keep seeing erased-not only in DC...but right here in our home turf, NYC and then please share it with your own friends. Why? Because a HOME IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1Q2zc5cvyc

The ever skeevy, evasive...or deluded "housing aide" Cea Weaver-defending the INDEFENSIBLE...justifying DEMOLITION of 18 buildings, countless elders and disabled, thousands of tenants to hand over PUBLIC LAND (a '99 year lease'...come on!) to the developer of all things...the deluxe units for the elite -the developer of Hudson Yards...you just cannot make this crap up!

This morning, the Chelsea Public Housing Coalition, FEC Tenants Against Demolition, and allies gathered to confront local elected officials over their complicity in the proposed demolition of Fulton & Elliott-Chelsea Houses.

Elected officials came to Chelsea to perform a ribbon-cutting at a new supermarket, one avenue away from the buildings they seek to demolish. Should the demolition go through, all of Chelsea would be in an environmental disaster zone of debris and toxins.

These elected officials came:

Council Member Carl Wilson @cmcarlwilson, Assemblymember Tony Simone @tonywsimone, State Senator Erik Bottcher @erikbottchersenate and Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal @bradhoylman

They wanted to do a ribbon-cutting outside, but because they refuse to speak with FEC tenants and cannot handle opposition to their support for this heinous plan, they moved their event inside.

ALL OF THESE ELECTEDS REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THE TENANTS!!! SHAME ON THEM. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. NO DEMOLITION!!!

"Ms.Story said the current senior building is so safe and close-knit that most of the neighbors don’t even worry about locking their doors.

She has lived in the local community for more than 20 years and moved into the senior building after witnessing a gun fight in 2023 in a different building.

“My building is very solid, the bedroom and living room are wide,” Story said.

“Why do you want to demolish here? Why do you want to demolish the beauty? You just fix it.”

For those who may have missed the story in The City Reporter today...you need to know the truth-the reporter needs to be fully schooled, evidently!

DIEHARDS? HOLD-OUTS? Those words could have been written by the NYCHA and DEVELOPER: RELATED GROUP's PR FIRM!

Bottom line..."Stop the demolition/rebuild project from going forward at all."

“For years, the administration, NYCHA and its real estate partners have wrapped this project in the language of choice, partnership and resident empowerment. A ‘notice of termination’ tells a totally different story. Tenant consent is now being coerced through the brutality of court proceedings against law-abiding residents.”

Part of a draft resolution to be considered at an upcoming DSA convention BY DSA members about the DSA MAYOR!
IMAGINE THAT...Even some of the NYC DSA members are outraged by the DEMOLITION-THE IMPENDING EVICTION and the PRIVATIZATION being implemented by Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and NYCHA...oh..and Cea Weaver aka IRONICALLY NAMED the "Mayors Office to Protect Tenants" head! The Fulton Elliott Chelsea tenants erasure and 18 buildings are about to be handed over for destruction and WHAT WILL BE LUXURY DEVELOPMENT to the developer of Hudson Yards...no kidding...oh...and we taxpayers are gonna' be charged for it.
NO DEMOLITION!
NO PRIVATIZATION!
DSA KNOWS IT-MAMDANI WAKE UP!
