🏈 Meet Dowling Catholic’s Kid Captain for Friday’s final home game, Riley Lehr, an eighth-grade student at Holy Trinity who has shown incredible courage, resilience and faith.

Shortly after his seventh-grade football season last year, Riley and his family received the unexpected news of his cancer diagnosis — news no middle school student or parent should ever have to hear. Through the uncertainty that followed, Riley faced every challenge with remarkable strength, honesty and a positive attitude. Supported by his family, teachers, classmates and an entire community surrounding him with prayers and encouragement, Riley never lost sight of who he is.

Today, Riley continues to receive encouraging scan results and is back doing what he loves, competing in basketball, track and field, and football. He recently wrapped up an incredible winning season of eighth grade DCHS football! His perseverance and determination, both on and off the field, have inspired everyone who knows him.

Please join us in recognizing Riley Lehr as our 2026 Dowling Catholic Kid Captain, presented by the Greater Des Moines Catholic Football League and The Hawks Company.

We want to take a moment to say thank you and good luck to @sam15young. Coach Young spent three years as a varsity assistant in multiple roles and is leaving the program to take on a bigger role at @hd_intelligence. Thanks for everything Sam!
