"Mali Dune, almost tribal based in the repetitive chevron and diamond patterns that meld together creating a continuous graphic pattern of wall-to-wall carpet enhanced by two distinct pile heights and deep saturated colours of merlot and burnt orange. For a room that is so cocooning in colour saturation it was obvious that the rug design needed to equally tie the whole room together. The design does not quote any single cultural motif, the pattern abstracts that shared weaving discipline, repetition, symmetry, directional turn into a visually graphic architectural rug. Designed to anchor, cocoon the room with deep saturated colour, pattern and textural feeling."

CURIO | ART, DESIGN & CONNECTION

Last week, Curio, presented by Belle Magazine in partnership with GlobeWest and Saint Cloche, brought together GlobeWest’s limited-edition collection and works by Saint Cloche artists in a thoughtful celebration of art, design and creative connection, curated by Kitty Clark.

Moderated by Belle Editor-in-Chief Tanya Buchanan, the panel featured Kitty, GlobeWest Head of Creative Keti Lytras, and artists Evi O, Fiona Barrett-Clark and Hannah Lange. Together, they explored creative identity, colour, collecting and the evolving relationship between art and design.

Thank you to @bellemagazineau @ms.tanyabuchanan and @globewest for bringing this collaboration to life, to @marooshka1 for her styling prowess, and to everyone who joined us to experience the exhibition and be part of such an inspiring conversation.

The Curio exhibition remains on view by appointment.

"Oriente Italiano, our architectural custom rug and runner inspired by fine bone china and watercolour brushwork of fantastical chinoiserie oriental gardens. Beautifully and thoughtfully hand-drawn design in our studio they capture the beauty of fine Italian porcelain in pastel pink background overlaid in crimson and raspberry tones of oriental notes and floral forms. Designed as an architectural allegory for our love of chinoiserie this one-off design is the ultimate in luxury."

PATTERN PLAY. Crazy paving underfoot makes sure this curvy burgundy banquette doesn't get too serious. From a suite of photos taken by @lana.landsberry, styled by @marooshka1, published in @houseandgarden 💚

2OO MILLION YEARS IN THE MAKING. This Rosso Orobico marble vanity started life as a coral reef over 200 million years ago. Quarried from Italy and now residing in a charming Balmain cottage, its unique patterns make it an ideal statement stone. Thank you to @houseandgarden magazine for featuring it; see the full article in our story highlights.

The owner of this abode in Sydney’s Surry Hills wanted a home like no other. Located in the Alba building, a converted apartment complex on the former St Margaret’s Hospital site, it’s on two levels with a staircase that invited a highly individualised treatment from architect @mr_scott_weston of SWAD.

Pick up a copy of the October issue of Belle to get the full tour and story.
