What an amazing experience to be part of the Chiswick Book Festival! 📚✨

It was such an honour to be there alongside so many incredible authors, sharing stories, ideas and experiences.

So grateful to have been invited (thank you @torindouglas and @smaaaw4) and to have had the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful celebration of books and writing.

A really special moment that I won’t forget. 📖✨ #booksbooksbooks #chiswickbookfestival #supportcarers #theparentcarer

If you go to @theatreattabard you may have seen me earlier this year in “Waiting For Hamlet” with Tim Marriott @marriott2965 - now I’m bringing “Mettle” which is the story of my father’s service on the destroyer HMS Vanessa, escorting the #atlanticconvoys. Audiences have said it’s funny and moving - a mix of theatre and storytelling, with a dramatic soundscape and 40’s music. “A gentle story that packs an unexpected punch” The Stage. MATCH 2 CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 🐐👴👴

@westfieldcricketclub and Selmeston & Alciston are familiar opponents. Subsequently, a friendly and humorous atmosphere persisted throughout the game, despite a close contest and a very tense finish. Both sides playing in the true spirit of village cricket.

Westfield won the toss and elected to bat. Despite a dry pitch offering some assistance to the opening bowlers, the batters got off to a flying start. However a mix up leading to a run out began a slow collapse, our bowlers making use of the conditions to restrict Westfield to 128 all out, Prof taking 3/40, Abdul 2/11, Captain Thom 2/17, and new recruit Sri taking 2/14, Chandu contributing with tidy work behind the stumps - a run out, catch and two smart stumpings.

The SACC chase began disastrously. If things looked disappointing at 23/3, despite a decent partnership between Abdul (29) and Captain Thom (21), 69/5 looked bleak. A sixth wicket soon followed and with batters 9,10 & 11 all less than occasional cricketers, everything rested on the two Tims, Huntley and Marriott. Years of experience were put to the test as Westfield bowled tight and fielded like demons. But, agonisingly slowly, the score crept up - a very nervous Nick Collett, having played once in the last 50 years, pacing up and down as he waited to come in next. But frustration began to take its toll on the bowlers and a few short deliveries were put away to the boundary and a great game of competitive cricket, laced with a few comedy moments, appropriately came to an end when a stray delivery hit the keepers helmet on the ground behind him, delivering 5 penalty runs for us to win the game.

So we headed to the New Inn, replaying the big moments of the game over a few well-earned pints. A great day.

Man of the Match – Tim Huntley

We’ve been incredibly fortunate to speak with some outstanding solo performers about their work, from Debbie Bird and her show Buzzing, to Sarah-Louise Young’s An Evening Without Kate Bush, Tim Marriott’s Watson: The Final Problem, and Mark Farrelly’s remarkable performances in Jarman, The Silence of Snow: The Life of Patrick Hamilton, Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope, and Howerd’s End (also with Simon Cartwright).

Theatre is a beautiful, powerful art form, and we look forward to working with many more talented performers in the years ahead at The BTG Interviews and Gobey Productions.
