From a surprise proposal on the beach to a surprise celebration overlooking the bay. 🥂✨

After Patrick proposed to Elizabeth at Crystal Cove, the celebration continued at Marriott Bayview Newport Beach, where their family and friends were waiting for them on the venue’s beautiful outdoor courtyard overlooking the bay.

With the water as the backdrop, the courtyard was the perfect setting for an intimate engagement party — filled with champagne, laughter, hugs, and plenty of happy tears.

I loved capturing everything from the little details to the big reactions as they celebrated this next chapter together.

One unforgettable proposal. One beautiful evening. And a pretty incredible place to celebrate it all. 🤍

Patrick + Elizabeth 🤍

A beautiful proposal at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach, California. Ocean views, golden light, and one of those moments that feels completely timeless.

Patrick surprised Elizabeth with the big question at Crystal Cove — but the surprises didn’t stop there. Afterward, friends and family were waiting for them at the Marriott Bayview for a surprise celebration. 🥂

It was such a fun day to document, from the quiet anticipation of the proposal to the energy of everyone coming together to celebrate their next chapter.

More from the celebration coming in the next post…

LABOR DAY | WE’VE GOT A LOT OF ROAD LEFT

As Labor Day weekend comes to an end, I wanted to share one last thought about everything we’ve posted over the past few days.

There was actually a reason behind it.

Angie and I didn’t share the beach, food, walks, music, laughs and a room full of grown folks doing the shuffle because everyone needed to see our vacation. 😂 We shared it because this is what Pacific44 has been about from the beginning.

We don’t have to sit idly by and watch life happen around us.

We’re 56. We still work. We have responsibilities. We think about our kids, parents, health, careers, retirement and everything that comes with this season of life. But there’s also a whole lot of living left to do.

That’s Pacific44.

It’s not about trying to be 25 again. Trust me, I don’t want to be 25 again. 😂 It’s about taking care of ourselves now so we’re able to enjoy whatever comes next.

This weekend reminded us that it doesn’t always take a big plan. Go to the beach before checking into the hotel. Put the phones down. Spend time with friends. Eat something good. Walk. Laugh. Listen to live music. And if Angie gets everybody doing the shuffle, apparently you get up and join her. 😂💜

As summer unofficially comes to a close, I hope something we’ve shared inspires somebody to do something they’ve been putting off.

Take the drive. Call the friend. Try the restaurant. Walk the extra mile. Go hear the music. Plan the trip—or for once, don’t plan it.

September isn’t the end of anything.

There are roads we haven’t driven, places we haven’t discovered, songs we haven’t heard, people we haven’t met and stories we haven’t told. Pacific44 will be here this fall finding them—and hopefully giving all of us more reasons to laugh, learn and grow together.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend special, and especially our friend Einstein Brown for the music and a night we’ll remember.

Summer may be winding down.

We aren’t. We’ve got a lot of road left.

Happy Labor Day. Here’s to a wonderful September and an even better fall. 🍂

Live Well. Stay Curious. Keep Moving.

🌅 ONE MORE SUMMER WEEKEND

There’s something about Labor Day weekend that has always felt a little different. Nobody really wants to admit summer is coming to an end. The days are still warm, the grill is still getting used, music still sounds better outside and for one more long weekend, Monday doesn’t feel quite like Monday.

I’m good with that.

We spend enough of the year watching the clock, answering emails and figuring out what needs to happen next. This weekend is a pretty good excuse to put some of that down for a minute.

Have the cookout. Meet some friends for dinner. Find a patio. Get in the pool. Play the music a little louder. Watch some football. Take the afternoon nap. 😂 Stay for another drink or another cup of coffee.

One thing I appreciate more now is that not everything memorable has to be a big event. Some of the best weekends are the ones where absolutely nothing remarkable happens.

You just had a good time.

Angie and I are getting ready for our annual Southern California getaway after the holiday weekend, so we’re definitely not ready to say goodbye to summer yet. Newport Beach, some favorite restaurants, friends, coffee stops and the ocean are still waiting for us.

Summer can hang around a little longer as far as I’m concerned. 😂

So wherever this Labor Day weekend finds you: good food, good friends, no rush.

One more summer weekend.

Just enjoy it.

Living in Orange County is basically having too many options and still asking, “Wait… what should we do this weekend?”

Pilates, matcha, the beach, a new food spot, sunset… repeat.

Consider this your sign to start actually exploring OC.

Sometimes you forget people literally vacation where we get to spend our weekends.

Never gets old.

Looking for a family-friendly hotel in Newport Beach that actually gives everyone room to spread out? 🌴☀️

We recently stayed at the Newport Beach Marriott Bayview and loved that every room is a suite! With separate living and sleeping spaces, it made traveling with three kids so much easier.

What we loved:
✨ All-suite accommodations
✨ Plenty of room for the whole family
✨ Beautiful bay views and walking paths
✨ Pool and hot tub
✨ Convenient location close to so many family favorites

Nearby family fun:
🏖️ Newport Beach
🎡 OC Fair
⚓ Balboa Fun Zone
🐠 Aquarium of the Pacific
🛍️ Fashion Island

Family Tips:
✔️ Request a higher floor for great views.
✔️ Pack swimsuits for an afternoon pool break between adventures.
✔️ Visit Balboa Fun Zone in the evening when temperatures cool down and the lights come on.
✔️ If you’re visiting during OC Fair season, purchase tickets online ahead of time to save time at entry.
✔️ Bring beach gear—the coast is just a short drive away.

This is the kind of hotel that makes family travel feel a little easier and a lot more enjoyable. If you’re planning a Newport Beach getaway this summer, this one is worth adding to your list.
