The Swimming World Cup was first held in 1989, but it wasn’t until 2002 that an overall champion was crowned. These are the women’s overall winners of the World Cup since then. In 2026, Marrit Steenbergen made history by becoming the first Dutch woman to claim the overall title.

Marrit Steenbergen earned $178,500 at the 2026 World Cup without breaking a world record, more than anyone: four Triple Crowns ($40,000), top of the standings at all three stops ($36,000), the overall title ($100,000) and $2,500 for stopping Siobhan Haughey’s crown in the 200 free. Pieter Coetze led the men with $162,000.

Egor Kornev was ahead after Baku and Tashkent thanks to two world record bonuses, until Steenbergen’s four crowns in Astana. Across the whole tour, men and women earned exactly the same: $730,500 each.

$178,500 for 9 days of racing: fair pay?
